I should probably mention my draft starts in an hour lol...
All help here would be greatly appreciated.
4th pick overall. If I decide to take a G first, am I crazy for taking Dubnyk over Price or Murray? I know it sounds crazy but from checking multiple sites on G rankings and the numbers over the past year or two, that maybe he's the guy to grab. McDavid, Holtby and Crosby will pretty much go in that order I have to believe. Talbot is already kept. So really I'm staring at these 4 in no particular order, Price, Murray, Bobrovsky and Dubnyk. Murray although awesome, still hasn't completed a full a season yet and this is his first as a full time starter more or less. I don't believe Washington is as good as they were last year at all... still good but not as good, Price although maybe the best G in the world, but is Montreal as good as Minny? No right? Can Bob repeat last year? Of course I can swing a Burns or a Kane I'm sure, but the top tier G's won't be there when I pick again. So... am I crazy here or am I seeing things clearly?

Appreciate the reply. Yeah it's hard to argue with that. How would you rank those four goalies? I guess that would be the next question.. just in case he's not there although that would have me staring at Crosby, McDavid or Holtby I guess.

Anyone else? I need all the help I can get here. Even if the answer is a skater. But preferably sticking with the goalies first.
As long as it's not a salary cap league, I am taking Price if it's a goalie you desire.

Yes definitely not a salary cap league. Definitely can't argue with Price here, I guess Montreal just scares me. I was thinking Dub surrounded by a better team, but that's why I made this thread, to find out if I'm nuts which wouldn't surprise me.. still a lot of debate going on whether or not we should be taking goalies before 90 or players anyway
You are only playing for this coming season so you have to look at skill as much as opportunity.
I can see where you are coming from about Dubnyk playing on a good team. That said, the Wild had 106 points last season while the Habs had 103 (Penguins had 111). It is not like there is a huge gap in last season's standings.
If it were me I wouldn't want to over think it. Price had 3 less wins last season (40-37), had a slightly better GAA (2.23 - 2.25) and the exact same SV% (0.923) as Dubnyk. Lets call them (in a one year sample size) a wash.
If your gut say Dubnyk then do it. If you want to follow the crowd that says Carey Price is the best goalie in the world then do that. Both good options.
If it were me I'd grab Price and plan to have him as a keeper.
- I said... "God damn this tablet is heavy!"
Price will always hold a better trade value too based on name alone.

I kept Radulov 10th, Saad 11th and Arvidsson 18th. Although none of them will pass 60 points most likely, I still think it's a good head start on forwards. I guess that's why I'm thinking goalie, that and the fact that all top tier goalies will be gone by the time I pick again. Of course, i'll lose a huge score in doing that, but I could never forgive myself if I didn't take the top goalie available and paid for it
Price
Murray
Dubby
Great feedback and thank you for this. Thanks to everybody for the replies and please keep them coming. My gut does say Dubnyk but I could easily be overthinking this. I do believe Minnesota is a better team than Montreal, but we all know that doesn't mean everything by far. The peripherals can never be ignored. I guess that's why I was looking at Dubnyk the way I am because they're so close. Tough call
Not sure if Holtby or Talbot are available here, but for me it's Holtby -> Price -> Talbot -> Murray -> Dubnyk.
Dubnyk has had bad second halves, Minnesota to me is an overachieving team, and I just don't see it being worth 4th overall if other names like that are available.
