Yea his ranking for Darling seems to be where he is going, not where he is at now. Maybe he see him as this year Talbot.
Darling ranked ahead of Gibson, Allen, Vasil, Quick, Rinne, Lundqvist..? Based on his back up work in Chicago?
Love me my Dobber rankings, but I am a little confused about how Darling was catapulted to almost one of the top 10 goalies in the league without ever being a starter.
PS. I tried to post at the bottom of the column, but when I signed in there was no place to write a comment anymore....

While I am not sure I'd have him ahead of some of those guys, I think Darling is definitely a top 20G this year and will only get better going forward. Carolina is going to be a very good team for quite some time. You really have to like what Ron Francis is doing there. His moves reminds me a lot of what Steve Yzerman has done in TB. Francis has an abundance of excellent young Dmen who he can work build around and a forward group that is coming into it's own as well. Darling may seem high to you today but I can see the light coming down the tunnel for him becoming a quality goalie that will be desirable to many for fantasy hockey for years.

Dobber has done a complete 180 on Darling. Back when the Hawks had Raanta and Darling he was all Raanta.
Personally, I would take him ahead of all of those players if you consider draft position.

Does everyone here think that Darling will get 60+ games? I mean I think he will get more games than Ward... but Ward played 61 last year. Do they trust a goalie that is coming in as a backup to play 60+ games this year or will we see more of a 40/40 game split?
I do agree that there are some other goalies behind him on the list that I feel more comfortable with than Darling.
I think it might be based on CAR is on the rise but he's still going to be sharing time with Ward. Yes, Ward came out and said he's the backup blah blah but if darling struggles we know what will happen. I wouldn't rate him above Gibson, Allen, Vasil, Quick, Rinne, Lundqvist this season.

I think Ward could get up to 30 starts, but I don't think they will be overly good performances, and the team will want to be leaning on Darling whenever they can.
Carolina has alot of defensive prospects coming into their potential and were implementing a rigid, high-danger, shot-limiting, defensive structure. Enough so that I was spot starting Ward last year in a roto league, which feels a bit like Russian Roullette haha
Can't wait to see them with a better tender.
From Dobber's ranking pre-amble...
"Goaltenders are considered fairly equal within their tiers, however for the sticklers out there I left the actual ranking in."
Darling is a tier 2 goalie and therefore is not ranked ahead of those Tier 1 guys you mentioned and as equal to the others....
