Pretty good contract for cap leagues. Though I still don't think he should've gotten a penny over $6.1M.
Now let's see if he can repeat last year's performance.

The Boston Bruins have signed restricted free-agent David Pastrnak to a six-year, $40 million contract, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.
The contract carries an annual cap hit of $6.67 million, making him the fourth-highest paid Bruin, behind David Krejci ($7.25 million), Tuukka Rask ($7 million) and Patrice Bergeron ($6.875 million).
In 75 games last season, the 21-year-old Pastrnak exploded for 34 goals and 36 assists. He trailed only Brad Marchand, who owns a $6.125 million cap hit, for the team-lead in points. He added two goals and two assists in six playoff games, while averaging over 21 minutes of ice time per contest.
Pastrnak was taken at No. 25 overall in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Bruins, making his debut later that season. He was one of two players from the 2014 draft to play in 40 or more games in the same season, appearing in a total of 46 games. The other was No. 1 overall pick Aaron Ekblad.
A native of Havirov in the Czech Republic, Pastrnak is coming off a three-year, $2.775 million entry-level deal.
He has 59 goals and 64 assists in 172 career regular season games. He ranked tied for 10th in goals and tied for 18th in points in the NHL last season.
Pretty good contract for cap leagues. Though I still don't think he should've gotten a penny over $6.1M.

11 team keeper league with salary cap (points only)
MY TEAM (start 13F, 6D, 1G):
FWDS: N. Kucherov, S. Stamkos, R. O’Reilly, J. Hughes, W. Karlsson, P. Kessel, B. Point, F. Vatrano, E. Pettersen, R. Rakell, C. Keller, N. Niederreiter, K. Labanc
DEF: J. Trouba, J. Morrissey, T. Krug, F. Hronek, S. Jones, D. Nurse
GOALIE: A. Vasilevskiy
BENCH: V. Mete, S. Niku, R. Andersson, T. Hirose, C. Glass, T. Jurco, C. McElhinney
NOTES: We can only send players down if they get injured, otherwise they pass through waivers and we lose them for nothing + we have to pay half their cap.
Interesting. Sacrificed on term to bring down the cap hit. Great for them over the next 4 years, and by that point they'll likely be in a better cap situation to really pay him if he continues to succeed. But they will have to bite the bullet at that point if they wish to keep him. If not, they have a very tradeable asset. Given their situation, I think Boston did well.
Wow - Sweeney somehow didn't blow this. I guess a broken clock really is right twice a day.

they got him for about 1 mil less then i expected to see....good deal for Boston.
In comparison to the Draisaitl deal, this one looks pretty good. They only bought two UFA years which kept AAV down, and Pastrnak can get another big contract in 2023 when he's just 27 years old.
Sweeney will be fired long before this deal expires, so he doesn't care about Pastrnak hitting UFA at 27. And I don't blame him for that. He needed a win to keep his job and he got it.
This is where it should be, around the Gaudreau contract IMO.
So high five to Sweeney, Chiarelli and his terrible cap management didn't get the bruins this time
