    Default The case for Kase

What's your guys take on Ondrej Kase for this coming season and his extended future?

I've seen him projected as a bandaid guy by some and for example in the recent Anaheim Aug. 31 in 31 he's stated as the Ducks' 4th best prospect!!

So I picked him up in my deep (52 minors limit) Dynasty league last year for free and was pleasantly surprised that he played so many games last year and mistakenly offered him only a 1 yr deal. He's now an RFA and signing him will either force me to give him an active roster spot or put him through waivers. I 100% believed he would go unclaimed in waivers up until earlier this month and now i'm looking for advice.

I guess worst case scenario I could leave him on my roster and if he gets sent down early season, put him through waivers.

Anyways, just looking for a synopsis on him from you wise fantasy guys.

I see him as a 3rd liner that will chip in a bit offensively. He'll be surpassed here pretty quick by Steel and Jones. Outside shot of 2nd line role but he needs lots to go right. In a deep league like yours he's a really great add

He's shown some flashes of chemistry with Getzlaf as well, not the highest upside but he has potential considering how far he's come since he was drafted in the 7th round in 2014. He's one of my project players I've stashed in one of my leagues. Only 21 years old, and no one else from that round has a game in the NHL. I think he's a solid pick for you.

Offensively I see him as a future Cogliano. 30-40 points pace most years. Of course there's some additional "upside" if he can become a fixture next to Getzlaf somehow but I don't see him being a major point contributor.

Awesome guys, thanks. Yeah I don't exactly expect him to light the world on fire, just seeing if you guys think he would be worth risking trying to pass through waivers. I will put him on my active roster to start the year and if he gets sent to the minors then down he goes!
