I would take Larkin/Yandle over Severson/Neal.
I am high on Larkin.
Yandle is bettter than Severson.
Neal is on an expansion team - how much can you really expect from an expansion team star.
Not sure I can get these deals done but the thinking is Yandle rounds out my D core very nicely as a sog heavy blueliner- which I personally value like crazy- and Nyquist is a decent sog heavy asset in his own right who has biubceback/breakout potential. If I do this I have forwards on the farm to potentially swap out for Larkin (no such luxury on D) and id also land a decent pick (neal for Larkin+)
Am I over complicating this just to make more trades???
I actually think this makes sense but wouldnt mind some feedback- lol!

Lol Eric Staal because it gets me under the cap- Id really like to Yandle but Im over already- lol! Id love a sog heavy froup from top to bottom on my blueline- I managed OEL and Krug at pretty sweet deals to add to Weber and Klefbom- whi are already sog monsters. Id really, really like to fill that end of the roster out- Yandle isnt the perfect example but the trading value should be fair enough and he checks off all my boxes- volume shooter.
If i take him on though I need to clear cap. Neal to E Staal saves me 1.5...
short term, I don't see E. Staal as being a downgrade to Larkin. Long term, obviously. If this is a 5th prospect pick in 2019... I view that as a pure trade chip. Not interested in drafting in the 5th round at all. I don't view Haydn as an 'A' prospect. The upgrade from Severson to Yandle is worth it. If Staal gives you anything compared to last year - this year... easy win, IMO

I like the Larkin/Yandle trade for you if you can still do it.
I can't comment on the cap implications because I'm not experienced enough in cap leagues, but I think there's some logic being used here that's flawed.
I mean yes Yandle shoots more than Severson, but Neal generally will also shoot more than Larkin. Neal and Larkin both had down years last year but I actually see Neal as a potential 30 goal threat every year, and if he does it he will likely throw up 240+ sog at least.
As for what he can do on an expansion team, he could be the main trigger man for that team. It'll likely result in teams playing him tougher but it also means he'll be getting all the powerplay time in the world.
And what does Nyquist have to do with anything? In my opinion, picking a player because you think that the guy that he might line up with might have a bounce back is severely flawed.
If you're looking to compete this coming year I would actually hang on to Neal, who I perceive to be the best player in the deal right now. If you're looking more long term then Larkin is your target
Goalies: If I'm pickin em you best be sittin em!
Among words I'd choose to describe Nyqvist, SOG-heavy would not be among them.

Can I choose the neither option and find a less likely cap anchor to fill your space with?

^Basically Yandle isn't worth that salary, I'm not high on Larkin or Severson. Neal is a decent option, but if you're tightto the cap you might find a better way to spend the dollars. Can you flip Neal straight for E. Staal? Saves you cap with no downgrade. Use the extra cap to find a better D than Severson.
