Get Toffoli for a dman?

So I made the offer that included Letang. He got back to me and said that he had just literally traded Letang to another GM in our league. But, he was willing to swap Toffoli for the top 30 pick and a pick upgrade in 2018. I jumped on it, and quickly accepted.
So, in summary, I get to keep all of my young dmen, give up a top 30 pick and a 3rd rounder next year, and I get Toffoli. I think I did OK.

What did he get for Letang? Unless it's a mind blowing return, it's bizarre to me that he didn't come back to you first and tell you that another GM surfaced who's also angling for Letang. You know, as a courtesy given your prior discussions, but also to try to play the two off each other a little.

In any event, I also think it's a worthy gamble on TT for the price you paid.

He made the other deal involving Letang before I even mentioned the Pittsburgh defender. I didn't expect him to go back on his word to the other guy either.

BTW, he got a 1st round pick and Arvidsson.

Oh, I see. I misread it and thought you guys had already been discussing Letang. Just looked back and not quite sure why I interpreted the situation that way based on what you wrote.
