Malkin for a 1st rounder

First, I need some help narrowing down my 7 keepers. I don't want to post my list because I don't want to influence responses in anyway. Those in contention are:

Crosby
Malkin
Kucherov
Eichel
Backstrom
Matthews
Scheifele
Johnny Gaudreau
Josi
Ristolainen
Martin Jones
Talbot

KEEP 7 - League specs in my signature.

I've got some guys who I won't have room to keep who would be keepers on other teams, so I'm going to try to ship one or two of those guys out for a 1st round pick. I was leaning towards Malkin because he's a Band-Aid Boy and he has value. The other guy wants Malkin + a goalie, but will sweeten the pot with a couple mid-round picks in addition to the 1st. Don't know what to do.

I say 10 because it allows you to use 2-3 guys as trade bait. I put a star next to the ones I feel can get you the best return without affecting your core of 7 players. I also removed Gaudreau and Risto from the list only because I felt that they were weaker than your other ones (yet still elite). I also put a star next to Josi as he would be your only D kept but then again, if Ds are easier to come by, maybe deal him and keep a forward instead.

With 56 keeps in your league, Malkin should be worth a 1st round pick. I would only throw in the goalie (and the extra picks) if you are pretty sure that's the best you can do.

My top 7 would be below. I think I'd look for D and hits and blocks in the draft. You have a problem that's nice to have; quite the collection....

Man that's a nice problem to have.

I'd shop everyone and see who gets me the best return. Malkin is a guy I'd definitely want to move due to his injury history but from the rest it would come down to a combination of who will get me the best return and what type of guys are going to be available in your draft. In other words, how screwed will you be for goaltending and/or Defense if you kept 7 forwards?
