Strange timing though the day before the draft. Got to think something happened yesterday. Plus didn't they add some kind of front office position to Tippett's job description this season?

Yeah he was President (or Vice President) of Hockey Ops or Player personnel I believe.

Apparently the owner didn't like him. What a mess Arizona is

This is the first thing that struck me too. Not necessarily opposed to the move. But unless it was on the eve of opening day, it's hard to imagine the timing being much more peculiar. So much instability in ARZ makes me nervous for the young talent.

If what was said above about ownership having a hand in this is correct, then this really means that things have gone sideways in Arizona and Chayka doesn't deserve the flack he's been taking around here.

Doan also implicated ownership in his departure. Meddling ownership is arguably the worst thing that a sports franchise can have.

Tippett relied on his few veterans to help teach the message to the bevy of kids on the roster. Then the owner/GM trade away Mike Smith and let Doan leave. I'm sure Tippett felt those moves were the last straw.

    Tippett must be happy.

Some NHL talent finally being injected....Hjalmarsson and Stepan

And he won't be able to utilise them!

Part of a good GM's job is to save the owner form himself. Food for thought.

whether you agree with the team direction or not, this might be the first time the Coyotes management have all been on the same page for a while. Agree with Bondon, Chayka deserves to be given some leash to form his own team here. Don't really get the angst over Doan (he's done) and Tippett will be fine with whomever he gets hired by.
