I don't really have a question on 1 player in general. But just wondering if there is any multi-cat gems in this draft who could be top line players?

What will be the biggest obstacle for Tolvanen to succeed in the NHL?

multi-cat top liners in this draft?

    Patrick
    Hischier
    Vilardi
    Glass
    Pettersson
    Necas
    Mittelstadt
    Andersson
    Rasmussen
    Kostin

A couple of those guys will fit the bill. Plus some surprises and later drafted players Im sure.

You could argue Tolvanen is the purest goal scorer in the draft. His shot is NHL ready, for sure. But it is his awareness and hockey sense in his own end that isn’t great at times. It's his play without the puck that will drop him in the draft. Not to mention his below showing at the WJC, even though many 17 year olds struggle at this tourny. I see him being drafted in the middle of the first. 12-20 ish.

His vision is "ok", not great. Too one dimensional is a term used by many to describe him.

Most likely going to Boston College next year but his rights are owned by Oshawa who are still trying to snag him.

In a sentence. An elite arsenal of shots but the rest of his game may take a while yet to translate to the NHL.

    Pure offensive upside?

I'll have a top 10 list for this coming soon.

Is Makar the real deal or is the hype overblown at this point? I have the 3rd pick in the league in my signature and am planning on taking Middlestadt but should I be considering Makar?

Is the hype overblown? No, not really. Makar will be a top 7 pick for sure.

But if you are looking to take a defender at #3, I would take Heiskanen over Makar in a heartbeat.

Who is most likely to do a Tkachuk? I.e. Not the first One or two picks but likely to step straight in and have an impact next season...

    So hard to predict.

It would have to be a winger.

Maybe someone like Ratcliffe. At 6'6 and 195lbs he has the size to be an NHLer already.

A lot will depend on organizational depth too.

    One more for you:

I'm toying with the idea of moving Buchnevich for a pick in this year's draft. Which guys from this year's class would you think will be a level or two above Buchnevich in the long run?

Only Glass, Vilardi, Necas or Mittelstadt...........

Don't think I would trade Buchnevich for any other forward in this draft.

But it depends what you think Buchnevich is. I'm pretty high on him. (60-70 point guy upside with minimal risk)

From what I've read/heard, Heiskanen is going to be a very good NHL Dman, but limited for fantasy. I'd take Makar over Heiskanen without doubt but I wouldn't take either guy in a fantasy draft in the top 6.

I hope people in my league take Makar and Im able to draft Heiskanen later. I would be doing cartwheels.

Id even argue that Heiskanen is a better puck mover than Makar. He is one of the safest picks in this draft because he barely makes mistakes. High hockey IQ, good with and without the puck, great skating, vision, etc. Calm and poised his (offensive) ceiling is higher with A LOT less risk than Makar.

In fantasy drafts there is no reason why Heiskanen should fall out of the top 6.

    Patrick
    Hischier

    Glass
    Vilardi
    Mittelstadt

Heiskanen <---- Worst case scenario in fantasy drafts

    Necaas
    Pettersson
    Makar

    -----Something like that.

Makar is much more dynamic offensively than Heiskanen, and this is coming a from a guy who is very high on Miro.. I've got him #2 overall on my board.

But for fantasy purposes, it's Makar by a decent margin.
