The refs and linesman undermine themselves by being bad.
So do you have any solutions or are you just gonna point out the obvious?

The NHL undermines the officiating by telling them to focus on one page of the rule book more than others each year. Just let the refs manage the game and call the penalties they believe need to be called. Screw replays for everything except for goals. Accept that the officials are human and will make mistakes.

Another option would be to put a third referee upstairs with comms to the other two refs. I would rather option 1 and accept that mistakes will happen. Continue having all goals reviewed.

I mean. There was that one season after the lockout where refs actually just called the rule book. That would be my solution. That solution, coincidentally, includes reviews to make sure the calls get right.

The first year post lockout showed refs are physically capable of actually doing their jobs. So you know. Just tel them to actually do their jobs.

    My game 2 predictions:

Rinne has a big bounce back game.
Pittsburgh gets more than 11 shots. - 31 range
We see our first OT game of the finals
Subban scores the game winner for a 3-2 game.

A cross check to the head is a cross check to the head is a cross check to the head?

How was that not a 5 minute penalty. Bet if it was Crosby it would have been!

That was an awful 5-on-3 by Nashville. Fisher with the bad penalty, and they kept setting up Josi for the shot instead of Subban.

2 games in a row with a goal called back on an off side. it's just ridiculous.

I think baseball should have an instant replay option for balls and strikes. Cuz let's face it, we have the technology - so let's get the call right every time.

really wish they would just do away with that rule.

I agree, but how do you do away with the rule and still avoid this:

    Bottleneckers (12/16 in 2022)
    16 team, points only. G: 2-W, 4-SO.
    Top 9F, 4D & 1G . Keep 15, Max 23
F: J. Robertson, J. Hughes, Tavares, Lafreniere, Cozens, Newhook, Teravainen, Domi, R. Strome, Laine, Rossi, Raymond, Holtz, Perfetti
    D: Bouchard, McAvoy, Morrissey, Heiskanen
    G: Vasilevskiy

you don't avoid that. if a call is missed on an offside, so be it.

those types of offsides come once in a blue moon. we don't need to rely so much on technology all the time. i didnt catch the full clip there but i remember the ref ruled that the nashville player either touched the puck or what not which led to the no offside. if there are refs who are letting more calls that are miles offside they need to look more at the ref than anything.

Back to the Stanley Cup final...

Pittsburgh is 2 wins away from hoisting the mug again. Does Nashville have any chance at this point, or are they, for all intents and purposes, done???

Can't say any team is done until they lose at home. Those last 5 minutes where they were sucking Pittsburgh into a more Western Conference style of play was a good sign.
