David Johnson for me. Focal point of the offense.
Hello all,
Our annual May Long Weekend Draft Lottery was completed this weekend in a re-draft league with no keepers.
I was fortunate (or unfortunate - depending on strategy) to win the draft lottery.
Therefore I am faced with a full summer of trying to decide who to take first overall.
I assume that it should be one of the three RBs, Bell, Johnson or Elliot?
Please let me know who you would draft first overall and why? It does not have to be one of those if you have reasons for someone else I would love to hear them.
Standard, non-ppr league. 1QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1TE, 1 Flex
David Johnson for me. Focal point of the offense.
I agree it's Johnson first until he gives a good reason not to be. Elliott is tempting though...

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
Elliott for me. Love what Johnson did last year but as a first year player, I can't ignore EE's stats. It's a close call but I'd go Elliott!
Keeper league 14 teams (H2H, 20 active players keep 16 NHLers, 16 minors)
Scoring Cats: G-A-PTS-PPG-PPA-(+/-)-HITS-BLK-SHP-SOG-FOW-GWG / W-L-SVS-SV%-GAA-SO

W- Forsberg, Batherson, Nichuskin, Tuch, Konecny, Maccelli, Sharangovich, Bertuzzi, Kaliyev, Neighbours, Reichel
D- Carlson, Rielly, Klingberg
G- Hellebuyck, Demko, Merzlikins, Vejmelka

D: Simashev, Willander, Lambos
G: Schmidt, Rodrigue, DiPietro, Gaudreau, McKay
Johnson or Elliot, can’t go wrong with either, but DJ for me.
Then with the next 2 picks you can get like a Gurley, Ware, Hopkins, or Gronk (I wouldn’t take Gronk tho, considering Kelce would be available on the next pick).
QB:?
RB: DJ, Gurley
WR: Hopkins, ?
TE:?
That would be 3 like first round picks last yr.

I'd actually go with Elliott but nothing wrong with DJ as well.

Your decision should ultimately come down to 2 players, DJ and Bell. Right now, I'd go DJ because I'm still in awe of the season he had and think he should've been given strong consideration for MVP.
Zeke is a great back but I'd probably take Beckham, Evans, Julio or even McCoy before him.
Just as I feared.... no consensus pick at all...Wish I could trade to third overall and take the leftover guy!
There really shouldn't be a consensus.
But Zeke isn't in the same tier as DJ and Lev Bell. He doesn't catch passes with nearly the same proficiency. It doesn't matter that it's not a PPR league, those are easy extra touches in space. Zeke has to be way more productive on the ground than either of them just to keep pace.
This may help you decide if the draft is soon. If not keep an eye on it:

Definitely DJ for me. Then Lev. Zeke should be great but he has not yet accumulated the experience and breadth of proven production of the first two (through no fault of his own). I would say, if you're drafting Lev Bell, you absolutely need to secure James Connor in the later rounds. I am not a handcuff-er as a rule, but Ithis is an exceptional situation in PIT. Think about what D-Will did when Bell was out. Connor is just as capable.
