Trade W. Nylander for P. Kane?
In the top league in my sig, would you do it? I know Kane is awesome, but he's 28 and Nylander could be great for years to come. Nylander is my 6th keeper (instead of Letang, since you all convinced me, haha). The other guy might want Johansen instead of Nylander anyways. If I do swing Johansen (and maybe a plus I'd be throwing back to the draft anyways) for Kane, which of my 6 keepers would Kane replace? Nylander, and then hope to draft him back? I've managed to swing 3 1st rounders and 3 2nd rounders, so I should have a good chance at repeating next year, I believe.

Haha, so true. I guess I am just concerned about a few years from now. Think I should sacrifice the better future years of Nylander to get the better present years of Kane? Or keep Nylander and think more long term?

I'm always inclined to take the guy you know is excellent now rather than the guy who maybe could be should be good later.

Hands down an easy deal. Kane has shown no signs of slowing and plays the style of game that will see him be productive well into his 30s.

Thanks guys! I knew it probably made perfect sense, but I'm an irrational Leafs fan at heart... My first pick I've gotten traded to me is third overall, so with it do you think I should try to recover Nylander, or try to recover Letang or Klingberg? I also gained the 6th overall pick, and my own is last, at 11th. I planned to win via a strong defence last season, but ended up winning with some lucky late round picks such as Marner and Nylander. Should I go for D again?

Big trade done! I had to give up both W. Nylander and Johansen to get Patrick Kane, but I at least managed to get a 2018 pick upgrade as well (his 3rd for my 12th). Hurt a bit, but I was losing Johansen for nothing anyways, and I think my top 6 keepers are pretty tough to beat now. Plus with three firsts and three seconds this coming draft, I'm feeling good about next season.
