Mason is done in Philly.
CGY/DAL will probably split Fleury/Bishop, so my guess is Vegas signs Mason as a UFA
Curious what you guys think happens to Mason this offseason.
Does he resign? If not, does Phili ride Neuvirth? Or do they shop for a starter (1A/1B situation)?

Hextall has shown great patience is lots of his decisions so far. He is never trying to add a quick-fix solution that will hurt long term (unlike so many previous GMs)
Therefore, I think he is going to take his time with Mason and see what other options there are, or become available. Especially now that he owns the 2nd overall pick in the draft. He will be listening to offers for that and other pieces and make a decision when he felt he has heard all the possible scenarios.
I do not think they ride Neuvirth. I think he was signed to ensure that they have a goalie to expose for the expansion draft.
If Hextall can not find another option that would be clearly a better option that Mason, that I feel that he will resign him short-term as a stop gap until Stolarz is fully ready.
wouldn't surprise me to see mason in Winnipeg in a time share with hellebucyk. I think he's exactly what they're looking for - not a long term solution, but someone who can help helly get to the next level.
My understanding is that Mason wants term and what he feels is due him which is to be top dog.
Hextall is not going to give him that, either the term or the top slot or perhaps both.
So its looking quite likely he takes his act on the road.
The question is where things lie going into next season as there are quite a few goalies floating around without a starting job.
Mason joins that group.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
I thought the Neuvirth signing pretty much signaled the end of Mason's time in Philly. That's a fair chunk of change to pay a back-up goalie, especially for a team like Philly that spends near the cap. I'm inclined to think they let Mason go and stick with Neuvirth until one of their prospect goalies is ready to take over.

I believe they are moving on from him. Barring the acquisition of an upgrade it'll be Neuvirth/Stolarz next year.

PHI has too many really solid (potential) goalies in their pipeline.
And Hextall was at the helm to draft several of them.
It was Paul Holmgren who obtained & re-signed Mason (re-signing in Jan 2014).
Hextall took over in May 2014.
GMs like to take credit for the pieces of the franchise.
So - besides Mason being speculated upon as "good enough?"...
It may not even be the key problem for Mason here.
Mason isn't Hextall's credit... and so its almost a lock that PHI moves on to somebody Hextall can take credit for.
A) Mason is a goner
B) I don't think Hextall even knows who is going to be in net for the Flyers next year

Mason is finished in Philly. If the Flyers want to advance towards the goal of winning they need a better and more consistent goalie. I expect them to make a huge effort to sign Bishop. Wouldnt be all that surprised to see Hextall send a 2nd or 3rd rounder to LA just to get Bishop's rights and have first crack at him. Seeing the Darling deal with Carolina, that should be the asking price.
