seems like you got the depth to lose out on a prospect I'd take Guentzel
For the league in my sig.
I was offered: Guentzel
For my: Horvat and one of McAvoy/Boeser/Dubois, Jost
What does everyone expect Guentzel to become? Will he be an 80 point player, or will any of my prospects rival his value?
I feel like I'm giving away a lot if I move Horvat + a prospect, but if people foresee Guentzel being a PPG player I think I have to pull the trigger.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I do this quick, before Guentzel has another hat trick and the other manager pulls the offer.

Agree with EB - straight points I would be all over it but each of those prospects has its own upside just the wait may be longer...
Experience is the teacher of all things.
I could see pretzel having a few 75 point seasons beside Crosby but should settle down around 60 at some point. Horvat should be a 60 point player as well but may take a season or two. Pretzel has already proven to be more fragile.
If I think I can win next season I may take the risk and pull the trigger. If I realistically don't think I can win or I'm a long shot it's an e z pass.

Fighting_Emu.... Straight points I would argue if Guentzel hit what people are projecting you could return better than what you give up within 12 months and that plays a part for me. Issue you have is that this is deep in categories hence I would temper that and potentially pass
Experience is the teacher of all things.
ATOI & FOW makes this a no for me. I would trade Giroux for Guentzel + though, ask for a nice phat prospect alongside Pretzel see what happens. (yes I am officially anti-Giroux. I've had skin graphs for the burns he's left on me the past couple years).

oh, and no he's not an 80pt guy moving forward. That kind of expectation is going to lead to failure. peg him for 60-70 next year 30-35 and be happy.

No thanks this is a sell high if I ever saw one.

1 for 1 I'd do it. Vancouver is still a long way away from being a high offense team, and Guentzel is already meshing amazingly with teammates.
Outside of 1for1 it gets a lot foggier. We don't know enough about the full potential of either player long term and they are both quite skilled. You have a nice pool of prospects and don't seem to need anything urgently, perhaps play a bit of hardball in your negotiations. Or try to make it a multi-player deal on both sides.
it would not shock me to see Horvat outpoint Guentzel next year. Horvat will be the #1 go to guy in Van in every situation and should be pushing 19+min per game. he's also a 50%+ F/O guy.

1 for 1, I'd consider this offer and even then I'd be hard pressed to move Horvat for Guentzel considering the cats your league rewards. Him asking for a high end prospect to go along with Horvat makes this an easy pass for me.
The other GM is smart and trying to sell high on Guentzel based on what we are seeing today. I am not saying Guentzel isn't going to be a good fantasy player, but there's so much more to your league than simply goals and assists that Horvat can offer similar, if not better, than Guentzel.

Guentzel is not an 80 point player. I would say 50-60 pts at best
Remember Colby Armstrong was going to be a great point producer but what happened? Removed from Crosby line and struggled. Don't buy into the hype. That is what it is, HYPE!!
20 Team Full Keeper (32 man Roster) Points only
Start 12F 6D 1G

G- Halak, C.Anderson, Mason
I don't recall Armstrong having anything close to the success that Guentzel has had, though. I don't think Guentzel or Sheary are all hype. They are showing they can produce, and the team is showing that they're committed to pairing them with Sid.
I would agree that I would pass on Horvat + a high prospect for him, though.
