Colborne is probably not a very good player, but lets look at the bigger picture here. A lot of players had really bad seasons playing for the Avs this year. Players who were top draft picks like Mack and Landy. Players who have been pretty good with other teams in the past like Soderbergh. Players with high upside like Grigorenko. Players who had been successful in Colorado before this year like Comeau. Almost nothing escaped the vortex of doom in Colorado this year. Rantanen seemed to be the only player on that team who improved and (plus-minus aside) was relatively immune to the all-encompassing suckfest that overwhelmed the entire organization.
