I think I'd much rather have Boyle over a declining 35 year old winger.

#2 on the list of things we needed, I think. Big body. Experienced. Exceptional penalty killer. Great face off guy -- great 1-2 punch with Bozak. He's a playoff guy.
Leafs already have the best PP in the league. PK just got a lot better too.
Wouldn't be mad if they give him some money for a year or two either. Lots of cap space to go around. $28.2 million to be exact (most in the league).
Just missing a true #1 dman... otherwise gotta wait for everyone to reach their potential before they take a serious run at the Cup.

Uh yes abolsutely he is worrh a second. His vlaue doesn't change that much in less than a year. At best you're talking late first which is the same thing as early second. Dahlen would not fetch a valuable first round pick.
he wasn't one of the sens top prospects, those would be white Chabot and brown.
I remember at this time last year Tobias Lindberg was going to be a star for the leafs...
As usual fans just don't understand player or pick value. Sigh.
For the record both trades made by the sens and leafs today are good IMO
Good lord you're insufferable. I'm logging off now, I just can't take the stupidity any more.
There was a whole thread titled Stone - 70pts... - Shocker.
I'd like to see the posts where people said Lindberg was going to be a star? I believe most comments said he was a really good prospect. No one commented he would be in the NHL this year, or even next.
Let's face it, both trades are good, for their respective teams. The difference is the 2yrs given to Burrows - and they likely won't protect him in the expansion draft - although it I'm LV, I don't select him either.
I think Boyle could resign in Toronto and will do for an almost identical contract as Burrows, maybe a bit cheaper. There is a 4 year age difference though. Leafs wanted to sign him 3 years ago when he went to TB instead.

Acquiring a true #1dman is almost impossible. Best bet it to pry Trouba away from Wpg and hope for the best. Otherwise, anyone more established will cost significantly more. Having a playoff run is fabulous, but unexpected this year (for me) anyway. I didn't think they'd be this close to a playoff spot after 60 games.
outside of someone like Trouba, it's a hurry up and wait for Nielsen & Dermott to continue to progress. I think we could see one or the other get a call up and fill in for injuries halfway through next season

just listened to the leafs lunch interview with Boyle..
"I just want to win" -- already love the character he's going to bring. I for one am hoping for a couple year extension for him.
