No baseball guys out there? Will rep.
It is set. 12 teams head to head (standard 5x5 cats)and I draft 5th. Looking to get Arenado or Goldy with number 1. If Altuve drops that's a possibility but IMO second base is so deep, might want to wait. My question is if both are avaiable, which way do I go and then who do Imfollow up with in second round. Usually draft 1B and 3B first two picks. If I get Arenado looking at Miggy or Rizzo. Thoughts?

I completely agree with going the 3B route. In every league of mine this year I'm looking at 3B in round 1. No exceptions.

You'll be picking 5/20/29/44 if you are a snake draft.
With your 5th - Bryant, Arenado, Machado
With your 20th - Turner, Correa, Votto, Scherzer, Bumgarner
29th - Lindor, Pollock, Stanton
44th - Kyle Seager, Villar, Carrasco, Darvish,
That's my look at it. You can get your infield secured quickly (Bryant, Turner, Lindor), or you can get a great 3B, IF/SP help, then injury fliers (Pollock/Stanton).

First two are spot on, IMO. Do not like pick 29 though. IMO first outfielder (Marte) Springer (is he all hype?). Then next pick power Abreau Davis? Like Villar in first 4 too, secures steal in the middle infield spot.

You can also go Gordon with pick 5 or 6 if you need a 2B and steals.

Personally I would rather have Pollock than Marte (his first season at CF, might be a fair bit to bite and keep his legs to SB). But just don?t go in with a rigid plan on drafting. If guys drop you gotta adjust your plan.
Also guys with Villar, he hit 18HR in the final 4months of the yr, and hit 1HR from opening day to end of May (off the top of my head). Could be a 25HR/40SB guy.

I feel like I am going into this draft the most flexible I have ever been. 3B first round. Best available 2 thru 5. Some speed (1or 2) first five. Then pitching/ outfield rest of way. Dee is a good choice if only one speedster in first five.
Appreciate the good feedback.
