Where do the profits go? If they are put back into the game, I'd have no problem with it.

I was surprised to see empty seats this year, but then heard the price of tickets and realized why! Great letter, if not a bit saddening.

So you are OK with Hockey Canada continuing to put these games in the big markets, with ticket prices too high, and half empty arenas as long as they are putting their profits back into the game?

Agreed it is a cash cow, who supports these kids all year on their junior and college teams - the avg fan. That is right where does the profits go - back to minor hockey?
Hockey is getting very expensive for the avg family.

I think of it as supply in demand. It would be foolish for Hockey Canada to continue overpricing their games. Obviously, they miscalculated the demand for the tickets this time around. It's in everyone's best interests to have sold out stadiums. The point I was making is if Hockey Canada is putting these profits back into Canadian hockey, I wouldn't have a problem with them trying to maximize their profits. Now, if the profits get into the pockets of the coaches and other administrators then that's a problem.

And here I was getting all excited for 2019 when the tournament was coming to Victoria. Also considering the minimum wages exemption for WHL players, junior hockey is a disgusting money whore right now. Booooo.

They can set whatever prices they want and fans can choose whether or not to buy. This year their plan clearly didn't work.

Toronto is flooded with world class sporting events over the past year.

    - Raps EC Finals
    - ALCS
    - World Cup
    - Grey Cup
    - MLS Cup
    - WJC

Im missing one or two. The point is the market is stretched. They should have hosted in Edmonton, to showcase the new arena.

The empty seats spoke much louder than this open letter.

Instead of all this BS capitalism, maybe we could set up a new government department to manage the world juniors. Instead of making a profit, we could operate it at a HUGE loss. But we could be really fair about who gets tickets.
