I doubt it. Hawks and Leafs are much different teams.
Seeing how well he's doing this year, do you think he could be the next Marner?

If he can't make the USA juniors, I don't see him making an impact in Chicago.
That and what Daoust said.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
Really? Keyyyyyrap!
I'm still holding out hope
He will be a player, but not next year
Experience is the teacher of all things.
Anythings possible, especially considering he'd be on his ELC. The Blackhawks are always willing to plug in guys who are cheap and skilled.
I don't think it's a lock but I am not discounting the thought.

I have nothing to lose this year as I'm rebuilding.. but I want guys that will perform next year.. maybe I will go for Meier instead..

I like Meier's chances more than DeBrincat's.

Definitely Meier over DeBrincat.
DeBrincat could play another year of Junior, couldn't he? He won't make the jump straight away. They'll want to see him in the AHL.
I think the wait could be a bit.
Points-only, Full Keeper Dynasty League
Active roster (no starts, just total points): 12 FW, 6 D, 1 Goalie
Forwards: Kucherov, Barkov, Teravainen, Seguin, Hoffman, Lindholm, Gusev, Horvat, Meier, Perron, Schwartz, Johansen, Pavelski, Buchnevich, Hischier, Granlund, Bracco
Defense: Josi, Dahlin, Letang, Gostisbehere, Ekman-Larsson, Petry, Slavin, Keith, Matheson
Goal: Lehner, Holtby, Varlamov
Farm: Soderstrom, York, Woo, Tracey, Dorofeyev
Making it on the Hawks isn't what this thread is aiming for. Sure he could make it with a low AAV just like Hinostroza made it this year. The problem is even with Hinostroza's recent surge he still averages one point every three games. That's not very impactful.

Definitely Meier over DeBrincat. Meier could be a really solid NHL player next year. DeBrincat is likely playing in the minors or in a depth role at the NHL level.
I also like Meier over DeBrincat long-term. Just not very high on DeBrincat.
DeBrincat will likely be a couple years away from seeing a regular shift for the Hawks.

DeBrincat will start in the AHL next year and I'd be surprised if he got anything more than the odd call-up. You never know, though. But yes, Meier is in a much better position to have an impact next season.

Actually Axe I'm pretty sure you're wrong. Although DeBrincat was drafted in 2016 he was born in 1997 so he is eligible for the AHL next season, as he will be turning 20 before Dec 31, 2017.
