Pretty surprised by this. Hopefully this will get Stone back into the swing of things on the PP.
Just looking for some info. Has Deangelo been sent down to the AHL for the rest of the season or will he likely come back to see some more time with the big squad?

Stone will be traded before the trade deadline, possibly even much earlier than that. They want to showcase him now to get a better return in a trade. DeAngelo is likely back for good once Stone is traded.
Nobody actually seems to understand why he was sent down lol.
Just snagged Stone off the wire so pretty pleased with this news.
Have there been any serious enquiries about Stone or just a certainty that he will be moved? I'd be curious to know which team he may land on.
Still can't get a handle on his offensive upside and if he would thrive in a different location - anyone wanna take a stab at possible destinations?

JP nails it for me... They know what they have now
Experience is the teacher of all things.
I also read on a couple sites that he needs work on his defensive game. Don't have the links but I found it by typing his name in Google News.
Isn't that what they say about all young d men
Experience is the teacher of all things.
I don't believe in Stone's offensive upside, I think last season's 36 points is the most you should expect. More likely around 30 points is realistic.
Plenty of teams will be interested since he's a 26-year-old top-4 D-man with right handed shot, and with only $4M cap hit which expires after this season. But only playoff teams most likely because there's strong belief that he will test the UFA market next summer. A trade might actually hurt his value if he ends up buried on the 3rd pair; see case Cody Franson as an example. But on a team like Edmonton or Boston, he might be a good fit there.
I have watched him for quite a while. While I have always thought he needed to work on his defensive game, I have watched quite a few of his NHL games this year. Sure he is no Ray Bourque, but I have noticed that he has played pretty well defensively this year. I think that probably means that he has taken it to heart and worked on it. I still think he has quite a future.

Anyone's best guess here, but do you think AD is up for the season now?

I agree with this. I am, however, encouraged that he was not sent down for very long. I think that they do want to keep him up full time, but until they can trade one of their veteran defenseman (Stone, for example), they will need to take advantage of his contract situation and send him back down every so often, to ensure that everyone is getting big league minutes.
