My gut says Bernier, but it is really a crap shoot with young goalies like this.
I have to choice between these two in a keeper league. I don\'t need them this year (or probably next) but who do you think has the better upside? I have read Dobbers take and have my own but would like some more input.

They\'re both talented young goalies. Ultimately, I like Bernier more. The Kings simply look to be a better team in the long run than the Bruins. What if LA\'s rebuilding finally pays off and they become the new Pittsburgh in 2 years? Can you really afford to not own their star goalie?
Rask is a nice prospect but I don\'t see the Bruins on such an upward trend. Maybe that\'s the Habs fan in me speaking.

As far as talent, you could flip a coin on these two. In this case you have to look beyond the goalie and analyze the team. With the talented blue line LA has been home growing you got to like Bernier\'s chances of success. Bernier is a blue chipper but with that defense corps in front of him, his chances of winning increase and thus his confidence will increase which is key to a young goaltender\'s development.
Rask just doesn\'t have that support going forward and the Bruins have already ruined a good prospect (Toivonen) recently. Now Rask might come out and dominate without that support but IMO Bernier is the safer pick and LA will be a stronger team then the B\'s.

Yeah, I like Bernier better, too. I could have had either of them in our recent prospects draft and I chose Bernier based on the up-and-coming team he\'s on.

LA\'s goalie situation should shake out before Boston\'s does, so we\'ll know sooner what we have with Bernier (if they don\'t ruin him in the process of rushing him).
I just feel that Tim Thomas won\'t go down without quite a few more spectacular Gumby-like games, and Manny will get enough chances to stick around too, a la Niittymaki.
Maybe Boston learned their lesson, and won\'t Toivonen-ize Rask...
If you definitely don\'t need either one of them until 2010, get something in trade for Bernier.
I owned both of these guys in a keeper league and was in a similar position deciding who I should keep. I ended up hanging on to Bernier and trading Rask.

Im another person who had both. I opted for Tuuka. I think he has oodles more \"natural talent\". Conditioning/positioning may be a factor but you cannot teach the world class reflexes he posesses. Bernier lost his spot at the WJC\'s and the consensus at this time last year was that Rask was the better goalie.
I think its very tough to choose here. I think they have about the same amount of upside. The b\'s are on the upswing and a world class goalie will only help things. I went with Tuuka because I like saying his name...
I am off to my draft this afternoon and both are available. I am going to take Rask if they are both available when I make my move for a future prospect goalie.
I think Rask has a longer road to travel to be the starter for his team, however I think he is the better goalie in the end.
My 2 cents.
