So i\'d like to see what some Leafs fans have to say about the fight for the remaning defense positions in Toronto. Does Stralman have a chance to make the team?

Apparently Stralman, Van Ryn, Colaiacovo Kronwall, and White are all on the bubble.

colaiacovo should live in a bubble to protect his mushy head and prevent him from coming down with a life-threatening cold or hangnail.

I follow the Leafs religiously, and I am quite confident I know exactly how the Leafs blue line situation is going to play out.

1st Unit

Kaberle - Kubina......no surprises here, goes without question, also the top PP unit.

2nd Unit

Jeff Finger - Mike Van Ryn Ron Wilson is bringing a defense first mindset to the leafs, and Finger is a LOCK for the second unit imo......Van Ryn will be a nice partner, and when healthy will make a very solid defensive shutdown pairing.

3rd Unit

Anton Stralman - Jonas Frogen......Frogen was brought in to be a defensive mentor to Stralman, imo......he\'s a tough, gritty, defense first kind of defenseman, and is tailor made to cover for Stralman, and enable him to grow his offensive game......I\'ll be completely stunned if these two aren\'t paired together.

7th D-man

Carlo Colaiacovo ...he\'ll likely see lots of time on the second unit with Finger, when Van Ryn misses his usual time.




Ian White + Nik Kronwall will both go to the Marlies.........and Luke Schenn will return out west, to the Kelowna Rockets, for another year of seasoning (most importantly to work on his offensive upside, and PP skills, imo)

I mostly agree with Antrocop

I\'m not sure how they\'ll pair them, but Stralman will have to lose the spot, because they see him as a major part of the future, and VanRyn will be given every chance to succeed too. I think Coliacovo needs to find a new home to succeed, he\'ll have to really impress to bump the others.

Ya tend to agree with Antrocop as well, real shame that White may miss out though, he deserves a spot. Then again with Van Ryn and Carlo he should expect at least some time in the bigs

Frogen will definitely make it over White. He\'s a strong body that clears the front of his net well. White has more offensive skills but the Leafs will look to guys like Kaberle, Kubina and Strallman for any O from the D.

lol :laugh: Amen brother! Although; I hate to admit it but I am kinda excited to follow the leafs this year. Ive been a long time hater (go wings go) and sure they will be god awful but it\'ll be exciting to watch the young players battle game in and game out. Can\'t wait to see what Grabovski turns into (hopefully he fulfills that #1 C spot nicely).

I do agree. The Leafs are finally doing what they should have doen 2 years ago - rebuild. It should be interesting watching Schenn in camp, he could impress as well. Just think if Sundin, McCabe, Kubina and others would have waived their no trade clauses the young talent the Leafs could have had to build on. Considering Fletcher\'s hands were tied when he took over, he did a good job.

Hey for what\'s its worth I read in the Globe and Mail today (Saturday) that Stralman has put on an extra 20 lbs. in the off-season and still won the fastest skater at Leafs training camp yesterday. Making the team isn\'t based on the fitness tests but I guess this can only help chances a little.

nice catch......I had just been discussing Antropov, so it must have been a freudian slip....(not to mention i\'d prefer the leafs to have Nikolas)
