Acceptable, or d*ck move?
I got invited to a one year $$ league last minute from a friend. Settings are quite shallow, 3F, 2D, 1G, 5 bench. No GP limit or move limit. I drafted 3 goalies wanting to maximize my goalie starts. Other people picked up on this strategy, but are going about it by day of if they don't have a goalie added someone for the day who is starting.
So as a counter to this, today I looked at tomorrows games as there are only being 3 so there will be a rash of players added just for the night. One at a time I added and dropped every available goalie on those 6 teams so they'll go on waivers for a couple days and be unavailable for guys to pick up to use tomorrow. I haven't expanded that strategy to forwards/defense at this point.
So my question is, viable strategy to counter a strategy working well for a couple guys, or a dick move?

Why does it have to either a viable strategy or a dick move? I am pretty sure it is both. There's money on the line so you have to take advantage of the rules that are laid out. If your opponents are going to stream goalies, then making sure they have to do it a couple of days in advance is a great idea on your part.

Your league made a mistake not capping weekly moves.

Fantrax allows you to stop this strategy by apply a setting for "Streaming Players".
Making players added/dropped within the same lineup period go back to FA.
Had a GM do this in my old yahoo pools.
I agree it's both, but you play to win the game right?
If it's allowed within the context of you pool why not utilize it.

I would like to hear the fallout from others in your league. Money pool - good strategy. Their strategy is to stream goalies, your strategy is to stop them from streaming goalies.

I was the first person to realize the settings loopholes and use a bench spot to stream an extra forward to get more games played. Then one guy has been going hard with it with goalies and it's working extremely well for him, so if for the off nights I do this a day in advance it should limit how much it can be done. I don't have the time to do it every day when there are tons of games. But for tomorrow there are now no available goalies to pick up. I live in a different time zone so they get an earlier start than me on adding players in the morning.

I just noticed they all dropped right back to FA, so must need to have them a day for them to require waivers, so strategy failed.

All my current leagues have moves limit but this idea is definitely getting filed away in my brain for later.

Haha I love it. It's both a great strategy and a dick move.
As long as you're within the rules, it's fair game. That league would drive me nuts though, I'd find a better league next year.

Won't disagree with what others have said: it is both great strategy and a dick move. However, if it ain't in the rules, what are they going to do about it? That is why you set limits in the number of moves you can ultimately make. Until then, have fun winning the pool, you dick. LOL!!

bad setup from the start.need to have rules in place. like mentioned above fantrax had an option to eliminate ww churning.
money league-you gotta do what's best for YOUR team no matter if it's a dick move or not I guess.

This is the stuff that drives commissioners nuts, but exposing it will bring changes and improve the league (if its a good league). Being a new guy to a new league and pulling that move off is a quick way to not be invited back again haha, but gotta respect your drive to win at all costs!
