    Default Bennett vs Puljujarvi

    Hey all,

I've got a trade offer coming my way. His Puljujarvi for my Bennett. Multi-cat keeper. Auction / minors draft to get our players.

Cats are: G, A, +/-, PIM, SOG, Special teams points + GWG. PIMS are getting taken out next year for hits/blocks cat.

Curious what your opinions are on this. Let me know if you need more info

    Cheers

ill go pulju, i feel bennett is destined to be 2nd line c in Cgy and Pulju should be able to get top line minutes, + even if they both end up second line, edmonton should be a higher scoring team so more points to go around

Bennett will fill the hits more then pulju but you could make those up elsewhere

Bennett's start of season has been worrying, but I like him more than Puljujarvi.

I would say Pool party, but i'm curious to see what your team looks like and how many players you keep.

We keep based on contract status.

When a player is drafted through our minor league draft they have a 1.00M status. Once they play 20 games or more they're no longer considered a minor (though they can stay in your minor slot for the remainder of the season) and must be called up the following season, getting promoted to a 3.00A contract. The following year they become a 5.00B. At the end of this year you're given the option to extend their contract at 5 units per year extended and they get a letter equal to that extension. For example, if I had Bennet at a 5.00B and extended him for 3 years he would become a 20F, next year he would be 20E, 20D, etc. and his last year 20C he would be expiring without potential to extend. If I don't choose to extend, the player stays as a 5.00C for the last year of his contract.

When we auction for players they are at a price of whatever we get them at and start in their A contract year. During their B year their contract remains the same and then at the end we have the same option to extend. If a player has been extended we cannot drop them (without use of a buyout $5.00 per year), they can only be dropped during their A and B contract status years.

    SO my team is:
    Sam Bennet - 3A
Oliver Bjorkstrand - 10A (picked up as free agent, any player is 10 units)
    Joonas Donskoi - 1A
    Nikolaj Ehlers - 3A
    Alex Galchenyuk - 15A
    Taylor Hall - 34A
    Jussi Jokinen - 10B
    Evgeni Malkin - 51B
    William Nylander - 3A
    Alex Radulov - 10A
Jonathan Toews - 26A (mistakes were made)
    Alex Wennberg - 10A

    Mark Giordano - 28A
    Olli Maata - 4A
    Derrick Pouilot - 5B
    Mikhail Sergachev - 1A
    PK Subban - 46A
    Zach Werenski - 1A

    M.A. Fleury - 16A
    Mike Neuvirth - 2A
    Andrei Vasilevkiy - 17A

We have 300 units to spend during the draft, can go over to 320 during the season.

Evander Kane is an 18A in my IR.

    Minors are :
    Rasmus Asplund
    Josh Ho-Sang
    Tyson Jost
Patrick Laine (getting called up soon probably)
    Daniel Sprong
    Evgeny Svechnikov

We keep 6 minors each year and draft a year ahead. This year I drafted Shea Theodore, Juuse Saros, Timo Meier.

As you can tell, I'm rebuilding. I also have an offer on the table for Giordano (M. Rielly at a 5B, Kostin, and a 2nd round pick)

Cheers. Let me know if you have any other questions

Bennett should be the better options for a few years until Puljujarvi starts to rain in the offensive stats

    I'll take Pulju

For now I take Bennett...but I would bet that you could flip pulj for more if you are into that.

I own Bennett (albeit in a Points Only pool) and I'd trade him straight up for Puljujarvi without hesitation.

I think it is all about the league set-up and again Risk Reward. In a limited Keeper or in a league where it is tough to stash a player I would go Bennett, but if you have room to keep Puljujarvi than I lean towards him. Question is how good will he be and will he meet his potential - in Fantasy Hockey everyone likes the exciting and new prospects - and due to this value becomes a question. I prefer to stick with more of the proven players but will occasionally take a chance on the prospects.

I really like Bennett and his game (he contributes across many important categories for me) and also the fact that he is now contributing (no need to wait).
