An early wakeup call for Teddy Purcell. It’s frustrating to see LA’s “big” free agent signing already on course for a night in the press box, but in Sutter’s defense, Purcell hasn’t really done anything this season. On Saturday, he didn’t get a shot, didn’t make a hit, was on the ice for two goals against, and had the worst possession numbers on the team. He also had the most difficult zone starts on the team and faced top-six competition, but if you’re placed into the top six yourself, you’ve gotta make it work. With Pearson coming back, he was the obvious candidate to be demoted. (Setoguchi will get the plum assignment with Pearson and Carter.)
