He isn't in the news because he's a good quarterback. LOL!
I don't know anything about football, but i keep seeing him in the news and sees he makes what $19million a year? is he a good quarterback

He got good for 1 yr and signed a big deal. He’s not TERRIBLE but he’s not good. The 49ers are just bad all around tho minus Hyde. He’s that fringe QB of either a starter on a bad team, or a half decent backup.
Dude can’t manage a clock, and can’t finesse anything, but he can throw long balls, run well and know when to slide. With Chip Kelly, I’d be interested in Kaeps future games.

In my opinion he's not very bright, nor is he charismatic. These are both essential traits in a QB, IMHO. He is physically gifted, though.
RETIRED
He cashed in because harbaugh knew how to use his abilities, he's a zone read boot quarterback. He over threw Torrey Smith by 5 yards when he was wide open on a skinny post, wide open in the nfl is 1 yard or more, he has absolutely zero touch.

Lost his job to Blaine freaking Gabbert...
contract "re-worked" so SF can offload him ASAP
..
Kaep is done
The guy is an athlete and a real good one as well. I mean, he dominated that ''pre-big-contract'' year. He can throw, he can run... But, once he got the bux, he started playing like crap. He seems more focused on social and political issues than playing football. It's not a bad thing to focus on that, but when you can't live up to your contract money and obligations, you should try to fade out in the back; not waive your flag (or lack of) high and proudly!
I don't see him being fantasy-relevant at any point for the remainder of his career. Way too many young and hungry QBs ready to take up starting roles. It's like the NHL for goalies. Past performances are just that, a thing of the past. If you can't deliver now, someone else will.

Yeah, maybe. But my opinion was really based on him in his heyday, not recently. I didn't see anything but a few highlights yesterday.
Another thing I could have mentioned is that he can throw a good deep ball, but he can't reliably throw darts. He's a turnover looking for a place to happen. I would agree that his past success was more attributable to Harbaugh than to his own ability.

He can't really throw a good deep ball either. Not trying to be nitpicky, just. He can throw it really far. That is not the same has throwing a good deep ball. Flacco throws a really good deep ball. Kaepernick just throws it really far.
This is a good point. He can throw it far but he does not seem accurate whatsoever.
I can heave a football pretty damn far too, it'll just miss my target by 20 yards and leave me with a torn shoulder. I still think I have a good deep ball though
I also don't know if this is true or if I am spreading rumors, but I remember hearing that he switched to a vegan diet which caused him to lose a lot of muscle and thus a lot of his athletic ability. I think his lack of strength wass a big reason why Gabbert took the job to begin with.
Kaepernick is not a "good" QB by NFL standards, at all.
I'll personally never forget Mort and Jaws, the proclaimed "QB Gurus" declaring Kaepernick was going to be the greatest QB in NFL history, better than Brady or Manning or anyone, because his "tools", while non of them put any thought towards his brain. If physical tools were all you ever needed to be a great NFL QB, we'd be seeing record breaking QB performance every game.
Also taught me a lot about listening to "experts" who sometimes really don't have a clue what they are talking about.
