    Default Bishop almost a Flame

According to Bishop himself there was serious interest from Calgary and he thought he might be traded before the Flames decided to go another direction in Elliot.

It won't be long before TB is Vasilevskiy's team sending his stock through the roof. Unless you're in a win now mode I think I would be trying to pry him away from another owner or moving him up your draft list.

It wouldn't surprise me if TB does not trade Bishop. They are Cup contenders and Bishop gives them the best chance to win.

They are close to a serious cup run or multiple cup runs. Bishop is their guy for now anyway. IMO it will be another year before Bishop gets moved. Unless the Lightning fall apart this season I would expect Bishop there the entire year.

I am always trying to be in win now mode while maintain long term goals too, so I plan on keeping Vasi even though I have Holtby & Quick

They didn't sign Vasi longterm to big $ to sit on the bench as a back up.

No but the more I've thought about it it's possible they signed him that way to get more value out of him in a trade (at least potentially)

TB has a big decision to make after next season.. One of Bishop or Vasilevskiy are getting moved or picked up in the Las Vegas expansion draft!! Our clarification is coming soon!!

TBH this was speculated lots at the times so I'm not sure it's a 'new' story? Think they both start the season in Tampa and then all bets are off

Its not a 'new' story but one in which Bishop has taken the 'speculation' out of it.
Bishop won't finish the season as the starter in TB....book it.

I agree. With TBays cap hell why would they trade Vas over BB???

They could trade neither and just ride it out. As a UFA at year's end, Bishop might not offer much in terms of trade return. With TB a Cup contender, then could just ride him out and let him walk.

Which I think they do... Bishop will be there to start the season and if they are in the play off hunt as a top seed - after the trade deadline

    Finally. A sane voice.

I do not get any of this "one of Bishop/Vas end up in Las Vegas in the expansion draft."

Vas will be protected and Bishop will be UFA; neither will end up in Las Vegas. I agree with you - the number of people not paying attention is truly astounding....

It would be dumb to let him walk and get nothing. They should trade him right now while his value is at its highest. As we just saw, you can win the Cup with basically anyone in net these days.

It would be bad asset management but it would not be dumb. Bishop is a better goaltender than Vasilevskyi right now and Tampa is a Cup contender. The dumb move would be to downgrade their goaltending when their Cup window is open.
