I would take Slavin over both, but Murphy by a hair over Wideman.
Dog days of summer...
Murphy has emerged as a top pairing guy with OEL but likely to lose PP time to Goligoski and Stone. Looking like he is emerging though - breakout year?
Wideman seems to be a favourite of the new GM in Ottawa and is coming off a solid performance at the worlds - will get little PP time behind EK, Phaneuf and Ceci but has way more offensive upside and may be poised to break out a little himself.
Another guy I am considering is Jaccob Slavin - top pairing with Faulk, 2nd in ice time, 20 points as a rookie (5th in rookie D scoring).
Who'd you rather?

Im not expecting big numbers from either guy in a points only format, but I prefer Murphy over Wideman.

Slavin > Murphy > Wideman for me.
Murphy... This season will tell us a lot about where he's going to end up year on year imo
Experience is the teacher of all things.
Interesting. Looks like it is between Slavin vs. Murphy with Wideman out of the discussion.
Leaning Murphy by a nose at this point but I like that Slavin kid a lot - just hard to tell how his offense will manifest

Went with Slavin. He had more points in less games in his rookie year. I like Murphy to emerge as a top pair D this year, but Slavin could do the exact same thing and has more offense to his game.
Thanks a lot for the input

He might be a lock for PP2, I was pretty sure Hanafin was on PP1 with Faulk last year.

I'd take Slavin first, Murphy second.
Slavin/Murphy are pretty close for me.
Wideman last - he's a best the #4 defenseman in the offensive pecking order, and that is not good.

I was able to snag Murphy too so now have both him and Slavin. If one of them breaks out this year, gravy.....

Ive always been a big Murphy fan since his Sarnia days.
Great offensive defence man. If it weren't for serious injuries I think he would have progressed much better.
I'm still in his corner though.
