Well what we do know is this is not a ploy to get a higher contract because he will be bound by the entry level contract $$ value correct? I guess it is maybe a way to get higher performance bonuses included in contract?

I agree with you. I think what it is, is it has been picked raw in the dog days of summer.

As for my thoughts on this news, it's unexpected, and there are some plum spots available beside Toews/Hall in two of the locations. With the Rangers I could see him having to fight for time a lot more.

From what I had read was that he said (and said again and again and again) that he was going to FA when he was able to (as per the CBA) on Aug 15. I haven't given it much brain space since then.

I'm idly curious if this sets Vesey back development-wise.

Like, I really don't think it does...but by the same token, most rookies have met their team, gone to a prospect camp, been physically tested and have an idea of what their new team wants them to work on and improve.

I'm probably overthinking this, of course.

Devils seems a surprise, but the kid has clearly had a LOT of time to think things through.

What happens if his NHL future flops like others before him who had great college numbers and then didn't pan out? Hopefully it's not the case here as a hockey fan in general but for all this hullabaloo let's hope for his sake he is a great addition to whatever team he joins.

It isn't such a saga in itself, but in my league the Vesey owner keeps trying to sell him like he's the next Eichel (yeah, he actually once wrote that Vesey was considered better than Eichel) each and every time a new rumour comes out about a possible landing spot, so he's pretty much making it a ridiculous saga that I hope will end soon. :P

Rangers fan here..........where the hell does he fit in their lineup? Gona have Nash, kreider and Buchnevich on the left side. If Nash is moved then sure, but not looking like Nash will be traded anytime soon.
