Can one argue Demko is the best goalie prospect in the game?

This article is a year old, but it ranks Demko #4 among prospect goalies.

I'm thinking after the season he had at Boston College (10 shutouts in 39 games), he should move up. I'd say he definitely overtakes Fucale and probably overtakes Subban in that article, given their results in the AHL last season. And can we still call Vasilevskiy a prospect? Yeah, I'd definitely say you could argue that Demko is the top goaltending prospect.

if neither him nor Vas count then I possibly put Pickard ahead of him but after that I'm struggling

Is Murray a prospect? Vasy? Hellebyuck? Gillies? I'd easily rank him behind those 4, and then enter the conversation of the range he is in.

If we don't count Murray, Hellebuyck and Vasilevskiy as prospects anymore, then it's between Demko, Samsonov and Sorokin in my opinion who is the best. Since the other two are Russians playing in the KHL, you could definitely make an argument for Demko as the best prospect.

Fucale, Subban and Gillies are a tier below those three in my opinion.

I just traded for Demko is why I was asking (what a surprise) lol. My goalie tandem consists of Winnipeg Trio, Ottawa Trio, Scotto Wedgewood, Mackenzie Blackwood, Thatcher Demko in my AFHL league

I think Demko is right up there with the rest of them. Until he gets significant AHL time and some NHL starts, it will be tough to rank him amongst Murray, Hellebuyck, Vasilevskiy. He's about as highly rated as a prospect can be without having done what they have.

+1 to this. Although I'd add that for fantasy, I think Vancouver will be horrible for a very, very long time. So I think that hurts Demko's fantasy value. The new three year deal for Markstrom is also a potential roadblock. I think Sorokin's got the best path, at the moment...

Yeah, I was talking about player potential, not about the situation of the team. You make a good point about the situation in Vancouver but honestly all these prospects are probably 2 years away, so maybe they pull a miracle and improve by then? (Not likely...)

Well, considering it's reported that Vancouver's ownership does not believe in rebuilding, and has confidence in Benning....well...ummm....yeah. Glad I'm not a Canucks fan
