Just Acquired McDavid, Thoughts on the Price I paid?

League in my signature. I've got a very young team and have been trying to acquire McDavid for ever. Other GM always insisted Eichel be included but today sent me the following offer which I felt I had to take. Hated giving up the pick since it's all but guaranteed to be top 5 next year but I figured this would be my only chance to get McDavid. Thoughts on this trade?

1st round pick (likely to be top 5, we have a lotto where we're matched to NHL teams based on our order of finish)

McDavid
David Savard
2017 2nd rounder (likely to be around 20th overall, give or take)

Steep price.. I personally would never give up Tarasenko, Johansen and a top 5 pick for McDAvid. but that is around the going rate so you got to pay market value to get McDavid if you really want him.

I think you did good not to have to give up a top 5 player in the league. Price was steep, but I've seen much more paid for McDavid.

It appears it's weighted on the g/a ratio which with tank, makes it more steep IMO. But if you want mcdavid I guess it's not the worst price I've seen. I agree with Moses here but I hate that you gave up tank, but building around McNuggets and eichel is pretty tough to pass up.

As for Moses predictions it temper them a little personally.

Personally it's the reason I don't go for these types of guys - they are so expensive to acquire (and rightly so) and the return on investment is hard - it's like shares in Apple lol

I've offered a similar deal without anything but McDavid coming back and been rejected so yeah I'd be happy with the deal.

I think i would of gave up Tarasenko and Ryjo for Mcdavid . Im pretty sure you got the better end of the deal not that big on Ryjo although tarasenko sucks to lose.

That would be hard for me to turn down, but I probably would have. Not a huge RyJo fan, I think you did OK. paid a price but that's what it takes to get a deal like this done. The good thing is, when he becomes a stud you could flip him for more than you gave up if you so choose.
