i own panarin. got a manager kicking tires on him....offering buchnevich, teravainen and a prospect. not in the same universe? what should i be getting back

Hard to say what to ask for without knowing your team - or his.

I would suggest you should be getting back a roster player similar to panarin or a really elite prospect (ie Marner, Strome, Provorov)

I've been shopping Panarin all summer.

Everybody that's been coming at me for him are using the same sales pitch.

"Panarin is nothing without Kane, and Kane won't score 100 pts again".

Good luck getting a fair return for him.

Who's "the prospect"? And does doing a 3 for 1 cause you to have to drop anyone? If so that player is a defacto component in the trade and would impact whether the trade makes sense.


As a side note, "sometimes the best trade is the one you don't make"!

i wont have to drop anyone. i might have to drop a low level prospect on my team to fix roster limits but thats about it.


i was offered Draisaitl, 1st round pick 2017 (from a team that had #3 overall this year, should be another top 5 pick) for Panarin, Adam Mascherin

I would try for one of these 4 combinations:

1) Drouin
2) Domi + a pick
3) Ghost + Bjorkstand for Panarin + K Miller
4) Raantanen + Ghost for Panarin + Orlov

Panarin was top 10 in scoring last year. You're getting 2 prospects & a 2nd year player in return. To me that's not near enough. Who that 'prospect' may be might make it closer, but why give up a 25 year old 70+pt player anyway?

Panarin fits any rebuilding roster due to age. I don't see why you would move him at all. What would you want for Kucherov? Panarin put up 11 more points than him and only a year older. I'd want very similar value in return for Panarin as for Kucherov.

I want a legit young player coming back who's guaranteed to help me this year - ie: Ehlers, Buchnevich, 'prospect' I think would be my initial starting point in my head, but would up that before making an offer

I was writing my post when all this was posted. Never saw the rosters.

If he wants him I'd go Drouin, Ghost or Drouin, Bjorkstand, even then I think I would want more.

Honestly, your team is in need of a lot of help, and you will be rebuilding for a couple of years. Flip Panarin for anything that helps in that rebuild. I really like the Draisaitl 1st round pick. I also like any deal that will bring two blue chipper youngsters back - ie. two of Drouin/Ghost/Domi/Murray
