Star Wars fans I need your help

Ok I finally decided to take the plunge and watch the original. Yes, I admit I'm rather late in doing so, seeing as I was 9 or so when it first hit the theaters and oddly enough I've watched Spaceballs something like 10 gazillion times.

Anyway I can't find just Star Wars. There's something called 'A New Hope' that I think might be the original. Is that the one?

Not a one. I've seen clips here and there from the original and I believe the Empire Strikes Back. It's funny, it's not like they haven't peaked my interest before, on the contrary the three "originals" have looked quite good. But it's always been a case of I plan to sit down and watch them and then before I do something else comes along and takes my interest away. And being as scatter-brained and forgetful as I am they wind up out of sight, out of mind for ages and then it's rinse/repeat the process all over again.

This time though I'm going to make sure and follow through.

The first three Star Wars movies (by release date) were the best parts of my childhood outside of pretty babysitters in low cut shirts.

If you have never watched any movie you should start with Episode I - The Phantom Menace and then go II, III, IV, V, VI and VII.

First one is boring, but the story it tells gives you a good idea about all the connections and background story. Once you made it through that it will get better and better until VI from where it goes down again.

I enjoyed watching it in order of:

A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Phantom Menace
Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi

I've seen them all 100 times. But re-watching with my kids in the above order was the best way to do it IMO

don't watch the "new" ones. the few awesome fight scenes aren't worth jar jar's voice ingrained in your head for the rest of your life

I think the new ones were fine. Standards were just high, and they were meant to go with the books (which I read, so the movies were 10x better)

Ok I took the plunge and it's 100% gonna get done now. I broke down and bought the original trilogy off Amazon. No more excuses.

Sadly though it'll have to wait until next weekend as New Hope won't be here until Monday. What the heck, I've waited damn nearly 40 years what's another week right?

i think ink the caveat with Dobber's order is that Return of the Jedi actually hasn't aged badly compared to New Hope and Empire Strikes Back so I can see that lorded working quite well
