A year ago this exercise was figuring out Toronto's lines with Stamkos. A year in the NHL is so much time. Almost nothing said in this thread will be accurate or relevant six months from now, let alone 16.

Also. Yzerman overpaid his hand and asking price with Bishop. There was a limited market. Now not only does he not have any leverage, he doesn't have any suitors.

If Stamkos signed for 8.5, I think maybe they can get Johnson/Kucherov for 5. They deserve more, but if everyone is willing to take a little cut, they can keep the group together. Drouin is on his like last yr before RFA status too.

If you don’t wanna join in on speculation, don’t join in.

What I wanted to say. lol

Masturbating isn't any more productive than speculating about the Lightning's roster 16 months from now. But I'm still gonna do that too.

One more thing I can never un-learn. Excellent. I suppose it's one thing to know, and something else to be told. Hah.

On topic though, I think with the Stamkos singing it's a possibility that a few players give a bit of a hometown discount, but based on precedence I really don't see Drouin doing it. He'll be looking for the max he can get, which could turn into a bit of a nightmare for Yzerman. Kuch and Hedman are probably the biggest ones though. If they can get Kuch in under 6.5 they'll be laughing, and anything less than a Subban contract for Hedman will look like a steal.

Carle's been bought out, so we can speculate a little less

Or speculate more as to who gets his (diminished) minutes! I'd love to see Koekkoek get more TOI. He's a solid two-way defender, and really looked the part during the playoffs. Definitely helps free up some cap space to get Kuch, Namestnikov, and Killorn signed as well.

A co-worker and I were just talking about him, and how to pronounce his name. Koo-koo and Nesterov will get more time. Also makes the DeAngelo trade more suspect.
    Bishop money still unaccounted for?

I hope you will not open an extra thread for that.

    bishop is gone, though.
    hedman - 7.875mil cap hit.
    close enough!
