My guess? Patrick Kane! Here me out. They can't afford another $9 million guy, so one of their other ones have to go. They probably want to cut that salary by a couple of million (i.e. Kane to Malkin) without hurting quality. Pittsburgh gets Crosby his winger. Crazy? They would pretty much HAVE to move someone like Kane; or Seabrook or Keith in some sort of package. Even then, they'd have a hard time putting out a full roster if it was Seabrook or Keith in a package. Just too much cap hit coming in Malkin.

That seems nuts to me (the trade, not the Sheary comparison). The only way that would make any kind of sense is if the Blackhawks org want to cut ties with Kane after last summer's scandal.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he more than made up for it with his play on the ice.
I don't really see how this deal would help Chicago. Kane is the only realistic piece that could net Malkin, I think. Kane is a better fit in Chicago by far.
