The writing has been on the wall for this all season. Really curious to see where he lands because he's a real impact player.

Sounds like Okposo will hit the FA market and Isles won't be bringing him back based off of Snow's comments. Still speculative and not 100%.

There's a certain "vibe" I pick up when I hear guys making their in-season comments about their contract ending.
Sometimes I'm wrong and the player re-signs... but Okposo fits the bill for me... he said nothing this year beyond the song-and-dance that is standard towards one's employers/fans while they are employed.
I think he's going to get a pretty sweet contract from somebody.
Either 5yr x $6.5m or 4yr x $7m or 3yr x $7.5m... something like that...
This reminds me.
We gotta start up the "Free Agency Contest" again.
Set like 20-25 players up.
5pts for getting a change-of-team correct.
1pt for getting a re-signing on same team correct.
(My picks stunk last year, but I love to try.)
Lots of chatter about how much the players hated the location of their practice arena, or main arena, something to that affect. Lots of logistical issues with playing for the Islanders that rumour has it has players wanting out. Cizikas re-signed and Hamonic has reportedly rescinded his trade request so it can't be all bad but maybe those guys just didn't have enough leverage.

If Okposo does leave there's a top 6 and top PP unit slot open for someone.
I don't see this as a rumor. I'm pretty sure it's the accepted truth by now.

I was almost positive he was gone when the season ended. I see him wanting top line pay and minutes and he wasn’t getting that on the Island.

How many marquee UFAs even re-sign these days? It's a good tidbit to read, but I'm with the others who say this was already close to an unofficial foregone conclusion.

it must really suck to stay in a 5 star hotel (somewhere in brooklyn) to take a nap before playing an nhl hockey game due to your million dollar house/condo you own/rent being in the burbs.
I think Bailey,de Haan,B.Nelson lived in brooklyn this past season .
anyways , the Rangers have been practicing / living in the burbs for decades and strolling into manhatten on gamedays so the isles need to suck it up.
Okposo was never really given top line minutes anyway, so I don't think the Islanders are too concerned.. Watch them go grab Lucic now..
