Default Is Domingue worth investing in?

What are your thoughts on Domingue? When (if ever) will he take over for Smith? Is he worth investing in cheap for a keeper league or stick to the other more obvious choices? (Murray, Helly, Vasil, etc.). Also, our fantasy league involves paying our own contracts on our players based on an auction system at the beginning of the year so someone like Domingue would be a lot cheaper than someone like Murray and could save Cap space for other areas. I currently got rid of both my goalies so am looking for at least 1 good young goalie. Thanks.

In that situation he's definitely wprth a flier. He is rated behind Murray/Vas/Helle for a reason, but he is a decent option for the next wave of goalies.

He definitely doesn't have the value that Murray/Vasilevskiy/Hellebuyck has but he's worth a shot. He played well last year and doesn't have much competition in Smith. The Coyotes are rebuilding and he'll take over for Smith eventually. He'd be worth grabbing if you can get him cheap

He's of course a great low cost lotto ticket, but might I also suggest Gillies in CGY

First off, welcome to the forums.

When Mike Smith returned from his injury late last year, he came back with a vengeance, proving a lot of doubter wrong, and that he wasn't ready to give up his net yet. He was outstanding.

The only way Domingue gets much playing time going forward for the next year or two is if Smith goes down to with another injury (which is certainly not out of the question).

If you can get him on the cheap as a viable backup option, I think he's still worth a flyer but if you are acquiring him, hoping for starter material this year or even next, I think you will be disappointed.

I don't know when you have your auction, but keep in mind that Domingue is a RFA this off-season. Wait to see what type of contract he gets (if you can wait that long) and that should tell you a lot of what the Coyotes think of his potential, either short or long term.

Id pick him up if a) you can get him cheaply, and b) he would be used as your third or fourth goalie. Not your number 1 guy.

He's not a bad option but definitely a few tiers below the other guys mentioned.

If I was trying to rebuild my crease with young goalies, I would much rather pay a higher price for a guy that has not fully taken the reins yet (Hellebuyck/Murray/Mrazek/Gibson...) but that is most likely going to get the job sooner than later as opposed to getting a guy for cheap and hoping he turns out into something.
