Default Craig Button's Final "List" is out.

Certainly some interesting spots, which is normally the case with Button's list.

One just has to remember that this list is how he projects them as NHL players going forward and this is not a mock draft or how he anticipates how the draft will go.

I think the biggest surprise for me is Max Jones and how far down he has him ranked.

Chychrun too -- has he really dropped that far?
From top four discussion to the 6th D-man?

As I say, this is just Buttons opinion on their end value in the league when it's all said and done and they are playing, not a draft ranking or mock draft per se. He must see things in Chychruns game that he doesn't like as much as a few others.

The reason for Chychurn hasn’t stayed where he was in the rankings was he hasn’t built on a very good yr last yr. He isn’t “Progressing” in the eyes of scouts.

Would like to see the Canucks made a draft day splash to land Dubois (or Tkachuk) and Logan Brown.....but with Benning stating he wants to trade the #5 pick for immediate help to make the playoffs next year I think the rebuild is on hold until Benning is fired.

Jones slipping doesn't really surprise me...ranking him 42 is pretty harsh.
Chrychrun at 17 is a shocker. As is Gustavson at 68 especially when he has Hart ranked 24.
Sergaychev as the top D is quiet puzzling to me.
I'm surprised he still has Jost outside the top 10...figured he was one player who jump in (not it matters too much).

He always shows bias to players who play C (said so himself) especially in cases where two players are equal. In the end, its one man's take on the rankings. There will always be surprises from guys who blossomed after the draft or went higher than they should have because of a late season surge. Also this is a list and not a mock draft so players all over the place is not a surprise.

One thing I found out the other day is Sean Day is in the draft (remember him?) and not even ranked in Button's top 100! He has fallen so far.

I love how he has Keller at #6 though, kid may be small but he is dynamite!

And I think the Max Jones slipping is because he is on London, and that team had such a plethora of talented players it is hard for some to stand out when you are waiting for others (not to mention ice time and opportunity)

Jones had plenty of ice time and opportunity. But he was a peripheral player. He relies too heavily on his linemates and takes a lot of dumb penalties. Kid has talent but playing on London should have elevated his game no declined it. He played in a 3rd line role because he wasn't performing well. Not the best skater either. He'll go first round but this would be why Button dropped him in his rank.

Day on the other hand is like Chychrun (although much much worse slide), his game just hasn't developed. He was a phenom at 15 but as he started to play against guys his own size and with higher skill levels, he hasn't been able to adjust. He'll probably go third round and be a solid #4-6 D man but certainly has declined from his franchise status many were hailing him to have a couple years ago.

I think jones slipping had a lot to do with his suspension. it's gonna scare a lot of teams away. it showed just how horrible his character is right now.

I find it useful to have this sort of stuff in a spreadsheet. TSN has done well to make that difficult for me, but not impossible. If there is a way to hide this then please let me know.

I've also seen him go the other way too. I remember when he had Hampus Lindholm ranked something like 6th or 8th (I cant remember exactly) overall on his list but I know it was WAY higher than most "mock" drafts had him even coming close to going.

Take whatever Button says with a grain of salt, there is a reason he is on TV and not in a front office...with that being said he is quite bold and I like that he has a mind of his own and does not stick with the in crowd shall we say. We should also remember, no one on tv for that matter is a professional scout and most have had limited viewing of the guys they are talking about. They get most of their stuff from sources anyways.
