Avs are going to be terrible if they move Barrie. EDM needs to be all over this, although I'm not sure what they can offer given the Avs biggest need is D.

My proposal:

Eberle + 4th Overall

for

Barrie + 10th Overall

OR if COL really has an issue with $$$

4th overall for Barrie straight up

I really hope Chiarelli is all over Barrie. I would do either of the deals proposed in the OP in a heartbeat assuming that any trade involves the Oilers being able to talk to Barrie and sign him to a 5+ year contract around $4-5 mil.

I suppose it's possible they move him if they feel they can't sign him ahead of July 1.

Their main focus will be locking up MacKinnon first and foremost. + Boedker decision as well.

I think they do a short-term deal with Barrie, then re-sign long-term when Iginla comes off the books after next season.
Some of it depends on if they think Zadorov and Bigras can make big strides.

The Avs need defensemen, I think it's a step back if they let him go.

I can see it now:

Barrie to LA for Scuderi and Brown.

That way Colorado gets more "leadership", worse, and they finally fire Sakic and Roy and attempt to save the franchise with actual good management (that Sherman has to still bring coffee too lol)

Side note: Did Colorado not see what happened in Edmonton when they kept bringing old oilers in with no management experience? Or did they do "pffft it will work for us!"? Like it was literally WITHIN their division!!!

if all it took were 4-5M he'd have re-signed in Colorado already. 6-7M long term is the number he'll get. EDM/BOS should be the front runners for Barrie/Shattenkirk

I dont think shattenkirk happens cause his deal expires next summer and I think he wants to go to free agency and get a huge contract. I could certainly be wrong tho maybe he'd accept a contract extension with a new team.

I would prefer Faulk out of that bunch, perfect fit for the Oilers PP, right handed shot with a great one-timer. His defensive game has improved lately despite the poor +/- , he played the hardest minutes on a bad team with bad goaltending.
Toss-up with Barrie tho both would be great.

so we probably get neither and sign J.Demers to a 5yr/5mill deal and in 2yrs time we buyout sekera and trade Demers for cap relief.

If there's one right-handed shot I wouldn't mind seeing the Oilers go out and get, and I know I have read this somewhere (maybe here a while ago) before, I wouldn't actually mind seeing them go get it Dennis Wideman.

I don't know if Burke/Treliving would even deal him but with only one year left on his current deal, and a fair amount of Dmen already at their pleasure, I can't imgaine his price tag would be too high.

I think he would be a solid Dman for the Oilers.
