I've had a broken collar bone, so I would think that I could sympathize, but there is no way I would have played through my collar bone injury. Hats off to him for pushing through that.
Thomas Vanek's upper-body injury is broke and displaced ribs.
Vanek doesn't require surgery though. He's coming off of a disappoint campaign where he was limited to 20 goals and 34 points in 63 contests. Due to that, it's possible that the Wild will buy out the final season of his three-year, $19.5 million contract.
