Re-Build: Holt?

I think I'm officially in re-build (and may be for a while) - I think what I need now is young talent but chip in any ideas (see link in signature)

I been offered Brock Holt for Jay Bruce - my first interpretation is no but want to get a second opinion on this - is Brock's multi-position availability worth Bruce's age? Plus there is the fact that is would seem that Brock is being platooned sporatically (or is this something you see will change)

Um, hmmm, well. You could possibly get more for Bruce, but the salary cap end of it may hurt Bruces value enough where this is it. Next thinking is Holt will be playing 90% of the season, he was just held out of the Jays games because he took a pitch to his hand I do believe. He may be platooning, but he’s platooning like 5 positions, so he’ll be in a fair bit.

If you’re rebuilding, I would be adding in Uehara to try and get another young player. Doesn’t even have to be an amazing young talent. Just something to get the 11 salary off your hands.

Agree that Holt is a decent piece, but maybe not quite what you should be targeting for Bruce. If you are rebuilding you may want to try for someone even younger that isn't as well known yet to squeeze a little more value out of Bruce (he's a nice piece for a contender looking for a bat).

OK - he dropped Holt (Holt will clear on 21st - tomorrow) and I have the 1st waiver pick. I was thinking of dropping Pagan and selecting Holt or do I do this after he clears and save my #1 waiver selection?

I would save the number 1 waiver. Holt doesn't seem worth a #1. If he does get picked up, then you can always offer up Pagan to the new Holt owner and see if he bites anyways.
