Stumbled on this thread while poking around to see what's been going on over the last couple of months. Lots of good ones listed.

I'll throw in yet another Dylan cover, Dave Alvin's version of Highway 61 Revisited:

Gov't Mule's version of Humble Pie's 30 Days In The Hole:

Didn't see this mentioned so I'll add Blue Monday by Orgy (original by New Order, unless they covered it):

That is a good cover, but I am just partial to New Order's version - having the orig played during my club going days. It's my understanding Blue Monday was written by newly formed New Order as a sort of cathartic release following the suicide death of original band member and Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis.

I forgot about this one. I also much prefer the NO version, but they are in my top-ten all-time artists so there's that. There's a few good songs post-80's (Regret, Crystal, maybe a couple more), but their first decade is legendary as far as I'm concerned. I don't even want to talk about anything they are doing now. Shhhhhh....please.

Have you seen the film 24-Hour Party People?

I've always liked Indian Giver by The Ramones. The original is solid too though.

Have not. But I will certainly look it up. I was a HUGE Joy Division fan....Simple Minds (pre-Breakfast Club) Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call era, um...Bauhaus, Killing Joke...then that morphed into my industrial phase when Ministry just blew my mind.

Anywhoooo...I digress. Thanks for the tip, PD. Much appreciated.
