Wow, did this kid really impress last night against the Winnipeg Jets or what?? 32 saves in regulation and overtime and really strong moving the puck around.. Is this kid the future between the pipes in Edmonton or is Talbot still going be the stud starter??

Brossoit has looked pretty good in his two starts. He seems to handle rebounds very well - better than Talbot has of late.

Think they'll still rely on Talbot to start, but I could see Brossoit getting some play still this season. Could also see him remaining up in EDM for the foreseeable future as Nilsson has imploded and is back where he belongs.

Really hoping they don't rush Brossoit.

He's been considered the future in Edmonton pretty much since they acquired him for Smid. He's progressed nicely, much like they have hoped, but Talbot is still the current go-to guy for now (as indicated by the new deal he just signed). No need to hurry Brossoit.

He now has two very impressive NHL starts. He's their most promising goaltender, long-term, IMO. Not only does Brossoit look like he has a lot of potential, he's also the organization's best goaltending prospect and in-line with the age/growth of the team.

Can't agree more. Let Talbot take the brunt of the team's struggles and bring Brossoit in slowly over the next couple years - probably the best thing for him.

Did anyone watch his game last night? Didn't see it personally but the numbers against a team like Columbus didn't look great :|

    Just a bad night?

Brossoit is similar to Devan Dubnyk... Big boy with good skills but no X factor, I don't see him ever being a starter everyone wants, but could easily slot in and be around 15-25 in the league, 1A starter... My outlook for him has him backing up Talbot and slowly gaining more and more starts...

If Edmonton is building from the Forwards back (as they have shown they are), they will need cheaper make shift options playing the back end and I see Brossoit being that stable cheaper 3-4 million goalie when the Oilers hit full stride... They will likely bring in more goalies to play with or in-front of him at deadlines where they plan on making big runs for the cup... Of course this is all projecting well down the road...

Until then yes he is what you see, a reasonable backup option on an up an coming team... wouldn't sell the farm for him, but not a terrible 3-4 option or stash...
    Current Roster:

F: H Sedin, Plekanec, Perry, Cammalleri, Oshie, Stepan, Anisimov, Kunitz, Justin Williams, Little, Baertchi, Huberdeau, Eberle, Rattie, Hoffman, Holland, Horvat, Dano, Dal Colle, Kerdiles

D: Boumeester, Green, Carlson, Del Zotto, Myers, Alzner, M Staal, Pouliot, Gormley, Mueller

G: Varlamov, Mrazek, Niemi, Vasilevski, Ramo, Hellebuyck

Rooting for Brossoit all the way, but he did not look good on that Neal goal at all... Gotta have those right after your team goes up 1.

Wow Neal's beating him up high all night. Wouldn't be surprised if Brossoit gets pulled tonight.
