I guess the recent struggles didn't help his cause much.

I'd still be interested to see exactly how this would've gone down if they were hot n heavy in the middle of a playoff race. Like, if they were 2 pts out of a wildcard rather than 9. He may have had a harder time in the 2nd half of his stint with the big club than in the 1st half, but goal support for him also became a myth over the past few weeks as the jets offence dried up significantly.
The Jets have been garbage for 80% of the season. Look for a turnaround next season. This team is better than what they've put forth this year. Can't help but think the contract status of two core guys has been a distraction, as much as they'd like to dispute that. Also, rookies. They got a lot younger this season.
He definitely struggled lately. I wonder if fatigue was a factor. Either way, not surprising. Early on the Jets weren't playing well, but he was bailing them out many nights. Once he lost his edge (due to fatigue or whatever it was), the loses started piling up.
Of course he played 26 games (and not 24) so I can no longer keep him on my prospect roster going into next season.
I swear my luck with goalies this year has been abysmal. Bobrovsky hurt long-term. I swap him with Ramo. Ramo gets hurt long-term. I have Hellebuyck on the bench, and now he's in the minors and I don't even have the benefit of being able to retain him next year as a prospect. Not that I was thrilled with Hellebuyck's play of late, so I'm glad he has been sent down, but I wish it could have been two games ago!
F'me.

and this is why you sell high. he'll still be a great goalie if you're in a keeper but damn how much could you have gotten for him when he exploded onto the scene this year?
Probably for the best. He's shown he has the talent but currently lacks the consistency to be a #1.
I have him and think he'll be great, but consistency is what separates all the 2nd,3rd,4th string goalies who have put up solid numbers but only for a period of time, and the league's #1 goalies. He'll get there, but IMO he started great and then faltered.
If the team is consistently bad, how do you explain his solid numbers months ago and his worse numbers now? His demotion obviously has to do with Pav coming back too, though.
I'm thinking they want to give Pavs ice time and try to trade him prior the the deadline. Then bring Helle back for the ROS and give him as much experience with little-to-no pressure so that next year, he's groomed and ready to start the year as their top tender.
With the Buff signing, having Pavelec at close to $4 mil. is overkill IMO for a team that has a young goalie making close to the league's minimum and has an equal/better output.

Not cool. But I guess not surprising either. If the Jets are pretty much out of it. They're protecting the young guy. Although he could easily be back up soon.

Fair enough. Just looking at his save percentages, I haven't done the math but his last 8-10 games his avg was probably below .900. Again, the team could have a big impact on this as well. He's not Carey Price of course, this was kind of my point, the talent is there without question, the consistency will come in time and he will most likely be able to carry a team like Price has one day.
