What does that even mean, "prohibit the use of scripts"?
Just got this email from draft kings.
Hello,
At DraftKings, our customers are at the core of everything we do. We are continuously seeking your feedback and optimizing our product to ensure that we are offering the best possible experience for all our users.
Today, as part of an ongoing dialogue with our users, we are taking additional steps to enhance our platform.
We know that efficiency and user experience is extremely important to DraftKings players. To that end, we recently launched a new tool that makes it easier for players to enter their DraftKings lineups, and we will continue to innovate and add features that allow everyone to use our site quickly and efficiently.
With the implementation of the new tool, effective January 29, 2016, DraftKings will prohibit the use of scripts and other automated means of interacting with our site. Though all customers were previously allowed to use scripts, going forward, all users must use only the tools available on the DraftKings site to submit lineups, enter contests, and perform all site activity.
DraftKings is committed to providing competitive and entertaining contests for our players while ensuring transparency of the Daily Fantasy Sports industry and we have been engaged for years in proactively defining ground-rules for responsible play.
We encourage you to send us your feedback and ideas to [email protected].
Thank you,
The DraftKings Team

I'm lost too.
I assume it's some automated manner of running a computer routine that enters a certain number of competition entries without somebody needing to manually "click" the players themselves.
(i.e. Some experts has their 25+ rosters they want to enter and they have some other software that just goes through all the steps, automated, to enter all the info.)
??? Maybe ???
Smart company. Doing everything it can to keep up the mirage of equality before too many people realize how much of a loser's game DFS is. Only the elite of the elite make any real money doing it and their methods are so far beyond the average Joe that there's no point in playing to win real money (play for fun with a few bucks if that's your thing of course). Removing the ability to use scripts is interesting in that it will make those last minute changes on 400 lineups basically impossible, but I don't think it really matters too much in the grand scheme of things. Average folks are competing against MIT whiz kids with massive programs and statistics at their disposal.
Agreed, very smart move by DraftKings. Both DraftKings and FanDuel are facing mounting legal battles these days. the Attorney Generals of New York and Illinois have declared their opinion that DFS is illegal and sought injunctions from allowing them to operate within their respective states. Texas has now joined the fight as well, if these large population states pull the plug on DFS the massive prize pools will dry up and the whole thing starts to fall apart. To avoid this I think we'll see more moves like this from both DraftKings and FanDuel in the coming months to try and pretend like they care about the average consumer.

Someone posted this article a while back which has some good info as well re: scription
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/ma...kers.html?_r=0
"Instead, I came across a different sort of problem: a rapacious ecosystem in which high-volume gamblers, often aided by computer scripts and optimization software that allow players to submit hundreds or even thousands of lineups at a time, repeatedly take advantage of new players, who, after watching an ad, deposit some money on DraftKings and FanDuel and start betting."

That article also spawned a lot of DFS myths that my friend Ed Miller (famous poker author) had decided to demystify.

The key part to me is this.
DFS for 99.99% of people is a total fool's game (from a moneymaking aspect) from everything I have read. Play it for fun, but don't play it because you have any reasonable expectations to make significant money. Unless of course you're one of the guys doing it full time. Ivy league education and mathematical genius highly suggested as well.[If you think it’s harder to win as a recreational player in a GPP that allows mass multi-entry than it is in a single entry GPP, you are correct. It is harder. But it’s not because mass multi-entry represents some intrinsic advantage for players with big bankrolls. It’s because mass multi-entry allows players who are already skilled to enter more lineups into the field and thereby bring up the strength of the average lineup. Far from eliminating the skill of DFS, it allows those who possess skill to leverage it more thoroughly.
Enjoy it while it lasts. The casino lobby and its well-connected billionaire clients like Sheldon Adelson are going to crush Daily Fantasy now, before it really gets its legs. DFS can stall for time using the court system but I will be surprised if the game is still around in its current iteration 3 years from now.
It'll still be around, it'll just be regulated.
Another nail in the coffin for DFS...
