Ugh going to semis and was hoping to see both Canada and Finland but not now. Even brought my Canada jersey so they better not blow it!

Oh and my goalies have turned out to be both teams' backups. Great.

Can't believe I'm fifth. I'd be doing a lot better if I didn't choose three players with goose eggs so far (DeBrincat, Virtanen and Perlini).

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

First time in this pool, love it!! A decent showing for me so far but I'm in exactly the same boat, too many holes in the line up, sure ain't gonna win this thing with that many zero's. My goose eggs belong to Eriksson (SWE), Svechnikov (RUS), Virtanen and Sanheim (CAN). At least Kapanen finally woke up a bit and put up a few points!

It won't be a three peat, I know that. Can't overcome losing the captain (Nylander) through the round robin.

Personally I think 'Murica is probably the favourite as much as it pains me to say it. But then again FIN and SWE have looked good too. Hard to say at this moment.

Trust me - this is basically every year. Everyone basically goes "Man if I hadn't picked X who is not playing/getting points and picked Y instead". It's basically a crapshoot. And this year, with so many people picking Nylander who got injured, it means those with Matthews/Marner/Strome have 3 to 7 points over everyone else.

A top lineup would look like this :

FIN - Pujuljarvi, Laine, Aho, Juolevi (D), Vehvilainen (G) for 12, 8, 9, 6 and 6 points (41 if my mental math is right)
SWE - A. Nylander, Timashov, Kempe/Holmstrom, Forsling/Pettersson, Soderstrom (G) for 8, 5, 4, 3, and 8 (add 28 for 69 total). Note that both Kempe and Holmstrom have 4 points, but Forsling and Pettersson have 3 as defencemen, and the 1 point drop here can be made up by picking a forward elsewhere, which you can't do with the D.
    USA - Matthews (CAP), Tkachuck, White, Werenski (D), Milano for 8, 7, 7, 5, 5 (32 points for now 101)

This gives up our captain, 9F, 3D and 2G.

    RUS - Lazarev (F), Provorov (D) can add 5 and 4 points respectively (110) for 10F, 4D
CAN - Hicketts, Chabot fill the last 2 D with 3 points each (116).

Then you pick up Michael Spacek from the Czechs (F, 5P) who is picked up by 3 teams in this pool, and the unpicked Russian Yegor Korshkov (another 5 P) to total 126, the highest possible amount right now.

The highest anyone in our pool could have right now is 124, since the next highest scoring option is to pick forwards with 3 points (all the 4 pointers are other captains/6th of that nation/unpicked in the pool). Leader has 98, owning 5/6 of those D, 1/2 of those Goalies, and 7/12 of those forwards.

Just to give you an entire idea of how many missed points are out there (and that's with only the prelim points counting!)

    Well, that was fun ;P

I'll post an updated standings in the next post, as I did my New Year's adjustment and missed quire a few points the first time around (or, the IIHF made a lot of retroactive scoring changes).

As every year, I do a double-check of all the stats on January 1st to ensure that I get everything right, as I usually input each game individually through the game summaries. So today (and after the Gold Medal Game), as a double-check, I compare the stats I have against each team's scoring summaries. All of that info I pull off of the IIHF Official PDF Summaries, which took me a while to find this year. As such, the "Stats" tab should now be up to date.

This year though, unlike others, I had quite a few changes to make, so I'm updating everything here.

Here are the guys who I had to change the stats for :
    Chabot (-1g, +1a)
    Crouse (+1g)
    **
    Carlsson (-1a)
    A. Nylander (+1a)
    **
    Meier (+1g)
    **
    Nattinen (+1a)
    Vehivilainen (+1w)

And the file, as usual, for those who want to double check

Hey alright, an additional two points to give me some cushion at the top!

Long way to go yet, though.

Thanks a bunch to both Nights and reeveta for putting this together. Really adds a nice boost to the tourney.. especially with the lacklustre showing by the Canadians thus far.

    Thank YOU for participating ;P

I do it because stats are fun, and if no one else is doing it then maybe no one will, and that's no fun.

It also forces me to pay attention to the tourney, which can help me gain some insight into prospects that I knew (or didn't) as they go game per game. And watching becomes a bit more interesting when your guys are playing.

And it increases my post count.

Would you like to return to our discussion where you said Canada never loses because of their goaltending? lol

Canada cannot win with marginal goaltending.

Game turned when Finland's goalie was pulled, and they put in a guy that can make a save...
