    What happened to him?

Once considered a blue chip prospect by many...

Traded, Healthy scratch after healthy sratch.

Does he still have a bright future?

What is his upside in your opinion?

    Thanks!

I still have faith in him. Has size and speed and still relatively young. I think he has 40-50 pt potential, maybe more but I think 40-50 is fairly conservative. Hes been putting up pretty good numbers when he's been sent down to the AHL. I think it's just a matter of time

I think he is one of those guys that need a trade to a team starving for offense. He still has the talent to be a top6er.

Etem is a waste of time. Too many talented D for the next few years. Drop ASAP, never look back.

Since when has Etem anything to do with D?

I do think Etem is a waste of time (unless your league is VERY deep) -- but not because of a talented D group (ha!)
He'd need to find some chemistry with linemates AND a coach that wants him out there with more regularity.
When he was dealt from Anaheim, I lost faith.

IMO he suffered from the same situation in Anaheim like he does now in NY. Both teams are crowded with talented forwards and are theoreticlly in win now mode ( i now the Ducks look like that latly). But imagine Etem getting a chance on a team in need of offensive production like Nashville,Florida,Philly,Jersey,Toronto. I still could see that. If he gets traded and still does nothing i count him out as well. I refuse to count him out just yet. ( And yes we are obv talking deeper leagues and not your 10 team 10 player leagues obv.)

    It's possible. But I dunno.
On the teams you listed, there are some examples just like him -- guys that seemed talented that never made it happen. Nashville snagged Hodgson this off-season. Hasn't pan out. Philly has Gagner toiling away. Reminds me a bit of Florida's gamble on Mueller years back. He could become someone like Holland (in Toronto) or Henrique (NJ) and have a surge with the right linemates, but I think you're gambling heavily.

    Dime-a-dozen type guys.
My bet is that he either adjusts and becomes a heck of a shorthanded specialist (with that speed), or he looks really good in a Swiss League jersey in a few years.

I own him and I hate it. What a wasted pick (in my league, every pick means so much...). I don't see the blue chip prospect he was supposed to be. Plenty of guys score a hundred or more goals in junior and never translate. I think his physical tools led him to scoring a bunch against weaker kids.. The NHL is another game, where you have to be top 1% to thrive... that he is not... Rangers might have a long leash but I don't know that I can afford a long one.. Next year he is cut. I have seen nothing to make me do otherwise.
