    Default Morrissey or Barzal?

Have been offered either of these prospects to round out a trade I am doing. Which player has the highest upside? What will their roles be with their NHL teams?

In your setting I think I'd side with Barzal. He'll get tons of opportunity to succeed.

I own both and would also say Barzal as I think he has the potential to be the next Backstrom / H. Sedin in terms of assists production. Morrissey is a great prospect, and will likely produce as the quarterback of the Jets powerplay within the next couple years, however in the same timeframe I see Barzal as a fixture on the Isles powerplay as the main set-up guy for JT.

I like Barzal here as well. However, I'm not sure what his time frame will look like. He had a great camp this year, but that will happen with 18 year olds who don't really expect to make the team.

It's fairly frequent that a 19 year old camp won't go as well with the added pressure to actually stick. I believe it'll be a solid three seasons from draft floor to Islanders PP. Still not bad.

I agree with Oakville, his distribution skills have a chance to be special.

With the competition ahead of Morrissey for prime ice time wouldn't you consider Barzal's wait time a wash?

Yeah it'll probably be close. However, Morrissey does appear to have a slightly easier path than most would on the Winnipeg backend. He's a lefty while Buff, Trouba and Myers are all righties. , Morrissey could likely be a full time player as soon as next season

I guess what I mean by "wait time" is time to fantasy relevance and not time to the NHL...

I probably didn't phrase that well, as I meant the same. I think Morrissey will become an everyday player first, and will likely produce a little bit earlier.

Long term though, I like Barzal better.

We're pretty much on the same page.

Good talk fellas. I was leaning towards Barzal and this confirmed it. Thanks to all for your thoughts on the matter.
