Got this offer :

Ovechkin
Farm team player to be named (my choice)


Ovechkin costs 70, so I would not keep him (will go for the same price at next year's auction).

Yakupov is in the other GM's farm team, so if I leave him there all year he is automatically kept at no cost. If I move him up to my roster during the season (when McDavid returns from injury), he would cost 0$ and so could be kept for 5$ next year, in which case I'd drop one of my bench guys (likely Letestu) and go grab Perlini from the WW and add him to my farm.

Kreider costs 13$, maybe not keeper material for 18$ next year though.

Krug costs 10$. Considering good d-men go for around 30-40$, I'd say he could make for a nice keeper. Would have to drop a D, but it would be Gunnarsson, Sbisa or Hamhuis, so no big loss there.


My instincts say : no way! This seems like a quantity vs quality deal and I'd lose. The only way this makes any sense is if I give up for this year and build for the future.

Steer Clear from this one, if you decide to move off Ovie which wouldn't be crazy at the price for keeper ask for much more in return

If you know you aren't keeping Ovechkin then I have no issues trading him but not for this return.

Wait until closer to the trade deadline and put him on the block. No doubt the offers that come will be better than that.
