McDavid For Domi

For the league in my sig. The guy offered me his Connor McDavid for my Allen, Domi and Gaudreau.

I know I'm giving up two of the game's best young players, and a goalie who will probably take over the #1 spot on St. Louis in a year, but The idea of having Connor McDavid in a dynasty league might push me to make this deal.

I don't NEED Allen. I trust Crawford and Fleury in net and Lehtonen as a third stringer while Samsonov develops.

I love both Domi and Gaudreau but I feel as if this isn't as much as the normal going rate for McDavid.

Do I pull the trigger or stay put?

If Gaudreau puts up 70 points a season, Domi hits that and maybe then some, and if Allen becomes a stud goalie, which are all possible, won't I lose this in a landslide? Goalies are hard to come by and there's nobody that great on free agency.

Doesn't change it for me. Yes you're giving up good pieces, but let me just say it is very rare for someone to offer up a superstar - especially one with this level of expectation - for a mix of stars. It usually doesn't happen - McDavid is almost impossible to get right now unless you include several superstars.

I would definitely take the deal. While you're giving up some nice pieces like you said, McDavid is going to be one of the best NHL players. I'd take the deal and run

In. A. Heartbeat. Your getting a generational player for guys you can replace. you're trading away a young highly regarded goalie in a time share situation, an two up and coming talented, young players. It's like getting Crosby in 2005 for Budaj, Ladd and Jeff Carter.

By the way, don't hold your breathe on Samsonov, you're going to be waiting three years until he sniffs the NHL. Very talented but he's a ways away and goalies are voodoo.

I would definitely take the deal based on your roster. Domi and Gaudreau are nice pieces for sure but MacDavid should be a centerpiece of a dynasty team league for years. I know in my league the first overall pick got traded predraft and the return was Malkin Halak and 2 first rounders.

It's a great deal for you. Couple of weeks ago I've seen McDavid for Crosby, Wheeler, and Quick in here.

I had to come in and read this thread!
I agree with others, make the trade.

Even in deep dynasties where 70pt-ish players are good... this is still a big win to get McDavid.
In a deep dynasty, a 40pt forward has "fringe value" - so the trade is:

McDavid 100pt player (+60)
Scrub 40pt player (waiver wire)
Scrub goalie (waiver wire, say 5 wins)

for

Gaudreau 65pt player (+25)
Domi 65pt player (+25)
Allen 25win time-share goalie (+20wins)


McDavid's +60 is still better than the +50 from Gaudreau/Domi... and eventually you will upgrade that waiverscrub forward to a 50-55pt guy through good management.
Allen is a nice own, but he's not going to win any championships.

It's not a ridiculously unbalanced trade offer as stats go.
The Gaudreau/Domi/Allen side has more numbers on paper.
But the McDavid side wins once you find that replacement F & replacement G of good value... and that's why getting the best player in a trade Usually wins.

Its really not that bad a of a deal in a deep league where depth is King. Depth in a deep league is often undervalued when it comes to trades like 2 for 1 or 3 for 1, the person netting the 2 or 3 especially in this case with solid NHLers will make out great, but you land the superstar. But in order to land a generational player you need to give to get, I think it a win win but I would take it.

Accept the deal and make it your top priority to turn the "scrub" slots into valuable contributors.
